Any recommendations or parts I shouldn't get ? If so what should I replace them with please? Thanks

For the video card I am getting a Nvidia 6800 Ultra but Newegg doesn't have them in stock right now.

For the hard drives I am getting 8:

FUJITSU 73GB MAS3735NP 68P ULTRA320 SCSI 15,000RPM 3.5MS 8MB(Bare drive w/5 year warranty) at mwave.com because newegg doesn't carry them. For the SCSI controller card I am not sure yet. Any recommendations? Thanks.

I know I don't have any speakers or headphones yet. Not sure what I am getting there yet as well. Any suggestions for that please? Think I am going to get headphones but if I should get speakers please say so. I just don't like speakers because sometimes people can be disturbed easily and headphones allow for that not to happen.

You can never have to much space plus some of it is for backup.

So if I need to burn two dvds or cds at once I can. I always wanted to do that.

WOW

Ok first off, I'd ditch the scsi drives and get 74gb 10,000 rpm WD raptors. They're more economical and faster.

2 gb of ram is a serious overkill imo. 1gb is plenty

Since you're spending so much on everything else, get an Audigy 2 ZS instead of the turtle beach. It's a much nicer card.

The rest looks fine, but expensive,

Now, for my opinions: Personelly, I think a lot of this is overkill, but its not my money. Do you really need 2 21" monitors??? My 2001fp has more space than i'll ever use. I also think the FX53 is a huge overkill.

I can sum this up:

Waste of Money.

If you honestly need that much space - I would build 2 computers. One as a slave/workhorse/storage beast or whatever and the 2nd as a gaming rig.....
This just seems ridiculous. Thinking about getting into web hosting are ya? haha

You're joking, right? I'm being serious in asking if you're joking.

Your system total is $9,569.

Eight of those MAS drives alone is $3,882.
The rest of the system (not even including a SCSI RAID card) is $5,737.

Can I be your friend? Hell, if you've got that kind of money, I'll wear a wig and you can call me Beoytch.

Anyway, why are you getting TWO 12x DVD burners, as opposed to a single burner and a DVD-Rom drive? Well, I guess if you're spending $10K on a rig, that question is pointless.

AFA raid cards go, anything by LSI is golden. 5-device SCSI cables won't be cheap, but again...you can afford it!!

Nice rig. Good luck.

agian, it is important to ask what are you planning to use this system for that requires scsi drives? anyways, that motherboard will be your bottleneck since its a 32bit/133mhz slot as opposed to server grade 64bit slots

:Q Bwuahahahahahahah!!!!!! Ahahahahaah! *catching breath* Ahahahahh!!!! Are you always so misinformed, or is today a special day for you?

Comparing EIGHT, 15K RPM SCSI drives in ANY raid configuration to any amount of 10K rpm Craptors is so inane it's not even amusing. That's like saying a one-legged man with a roller skate on his one foot can skate uphill faster than rocket-powered sled with a Crystal Meth addict at the wheel can!!

Bahahahah!!! <--final amusement. Thank you.

You should get an Alienware if you got that kinda money. No need to "Do-it-yourself" when you got $$$.

You beat me to it. I was coming back for that comment. I wanted to get my laughter at Raptor-Boy out of the way, first.

Hell yeah, he needs a real server board. Any real (64-bit) SCSI RAID card is completely choked by a standard 32-bit, 33MHz PCI slot. I know what I'm talking about b/c I have one and am in that situation right now.

May I recommend the Iwill DK8N? It will be hitting US Retailers any day know. That's what I'm waiting for. One dually Opteron coming up.

Your next motherboard.

I kinda missed the 8 SCSI drive part, I was too busy falling over in shock

Glad I was amusing, though my recommendation still actually makes sense... 8 scsi drives on the other hand...

I agree with the "SHOCK" part. I about fell out of my chair...twice. :Q

Personally, I think that the 8 drives (SCSI or whatever) is overkill.

My recommendation? Get TWO 15K rpm, 74GB SCSI drives. RAID 0 on a U320 LSI SCSI raid card and get two 250GB IDE drives for files and backup. Put that on a motherboard with a 64-bit, 66MHz (Or PCI-X) slot and that thing will FLY.

Yeah i think you're right.. I saw the total and fell over, didn't even read the whole post. Then I made my dumb raptor recommendation because normally people are like "wow i'm gonna have uber fast storage cause i'm buying 2 scsi drives" and I respond that it makes much more sense to get to raptors for much less... I didn't take into consideration that raptors are reasonable and this computer is not.

Good point, if you wanna play games, you could easily afford one of their new dual video card solutions. (i think they're out now??) That would ROCK in games.

I also think that MOBO does NOT use an EPS power supply, that is reserved for server boards....

For everyone who thinks I am wasting my money please suggestion to me a system I could build with a better bang for the buck and not wasting my money ?

I know a lot of people says its usually bad to go with the top of the line everything because its very expersive and you can get a little less performence for a lot better bang for the buck.

Well, find a motherboard that offers say 6 SATA ports. Get 6 Raptors and RAID them. Will be a lot less expensive, but performance won't be as good, but still, you can get almost 3 Raptors for the price of a single one of those SCSI drives. Spend the money you save here on something else.

My best advice is to get a decent enough system now (get your CPU and RAM, and say a 6800 GT) and some SATA hard drives, and wait until later this fall, when you'll start to see motherboards (nForce 4) that have dual PCI-Express x16 slots so you can put two 6800's in there.

If you have the money to burn, this would be an ultimate dream system. If you're going all out, replace one or both of those monitors with a 23" Apple (or HP, because they have a similar one that should actually be a little better) widescreen. Maybe get a 42" plasma to use too, and a projector while you're at it.

Are you gonna build yourself?
