I tend to tee off with a 3 wood, occasionally a high iron. The 3-wood can usually get me 240-250 if I hit it well. The driver comes out once in a while if I'm not hitting the 3 wood well, under the reasoning that if I'm sucking with the 3, I may as well use the driver. I can't really say how far I hit the driver because it's never straight enough to measure.

No matter what I do, when I hit a driver it slices like crazy. 3-wood's are about 50/50 straight or slice, but my irons are 85-90% straight. Good enough to shoot in the low-mid 80's.

I used to drive 200-230 ft with a 5 iron until some dude told me I was doing it wrong: hitting it too flat and not letting the 5's angle do it's real job. To this day, I still can't hit a 1 wood properly but I'm a master with the 5 wood. My drives then to fly slightly to the right.

Driver: Consistent about 280. - Bang Bangenstein with Penley Graphite lite shaft - 265 cpm. I have hit it plus 300.
Strong 4 about 240. Rarely use.
5 Wood anywhere from 190 - 230 on command. Best club I own. If I only could use one club, this would be it.
3 iron - don't hit it.
4 iron - don't hit it.
5 iron - about 190, but don't hit it.
6 iron - 180ish
7 iron - 170ish
8 iron - 160ish
9 iron - 150ish (I'll hit it from 155 to 140 on the course).
PW - 140 to 110 on the course
53* gap is 110 to 70 on the course.
56* gap is 70 and in.

I average in the low 90's (90-95) due to some horrible wedge play around the green. Putting has been my downfall as well. When I have good wedge play and a good putting game, I can come in the low 80's (80-83).

I have the same problems as you (although I'm more of a mid to high 90s player, probably more than that on a tough course). I can't straighten out the driver for the life of me. I also tend to be much more consistent with my irons. My 3 wood is probably the only wood I use regularly (for teeing off). The driver and the 5 are only for show.

I'm a pretty steady 270-290 with the driver. Conquered the slice last year, and so far this year it hasn't reared its ugly head. With the wind I've popped it over 330 for sure, and have driven a 365 yard par four with a three wood (helping wind + sprinkler head). Rolled the ball right between a guy's feet while he was crouched down to read a putt. Fortunately one of his companions saw the shot, and calmed him down. Oh, and yes, managed to three jack for par.

I've given up the distance quest a bit though, because no matter what I do, one of my friends crushes the ball 20 yards past me every time, and damn, he is consistent. I need to work on the other parts of my game to compensate. That dude is built almost exactly the same, dimension-wise as Tiger, so much so I call him White Tiger. That fed his ego pretty good ... until I went out and beat him by 2.

farthest is 379. down one hill, and down wind. then it took a big bounce and rolled down another hill. flat hole, no wind, not wet i can get it over 300 if i hit it good. i usually duck hook it so it flys about 150 yeards then rolls another 100 or so.

I'm no golf pro but probably a really weak grip (right hand rotated clockwise) leaving the clubface really open when hit. Try turning that right hand over more or shutting the club down ever so slightly at address.

I only average a bit around 215 because I don't use a driver- can't stand the oversized clubheads... I much prefer teeing with a 5 wood or even a 4 iron. I would have to guess around 280 for my farthest drive but I average 250 on the range with my driver.

I average about 240-270 but can get up to 290-310 if I'm playing well and I feel like unleashing on the ball a little. But I can putt lights out. Drive for show putt for dough.

I usually hit it 260 or so on average, but I go WAY in the air and then it sits so I get no roll at all. I had a 10.5 degree king cobra, so I bought an 8 degree Hawkeye and I still do the same thing. Does anyone have any tips to keep it low? I have a good swing but I have never had any formal training.

When I used to golf, depending on the conditions, 320 or so max. I used to land hte ball well over 200 yards out so add some roll. I'd estimate I landed about 230-250 and then some roll.

Not bad for wood clubs from 1960 or so. metal shaft though, so don't think they are from 1910.

Did you see how hard tiger woods hit the ball at the masters last week, his longest drive was 292.4yds there, so don't think all the pros hit over 300yrds in every driver shots.

You're wrong on that.
Every tournament, they only pick 1 hole per nine to measure the driving distance.
It just happen that Tiger did poorly on the holes they measured.
If you look at previous weeks Tiger played in, he averages over 300yds.

If Tiger wanted to, he can hit over 300yds every time....very easily I might add.
Keep in mind that professional players have to make a compromise between control and distance.
Give Tiger a distance ball and a driver of his choosing, he can probably hit it 320-350 yds.

In the Tavistock Tiger played in a few weeks ago, they had the swing speed radar out.
At one hole, his swing speed was 176mph....thats just ridiculous.
If you can get it to 110mph+, thats considered professional swing speed there.

Hit the pin on a 324 yard par 4, sat on the edge but wouldn't fall!!! That was landing it on the green, no roll. Normally, I average a drive of about 290-295. Cleveland Launcher 460 with the Alidia NV shaft is the way to go... Solid and consistant A significant upgrade from my Titleist 976R.

I think I'm the only person at the driving range who needs to yell "Fore!" to the people on either side of him. I kid you not, I have hit shots that went off flying at damn near a 90 degree angle. Came within a few feet of hitting my brother once.

I'd like to learn how to play golf. I just don't have the money or time to take lessons.

It's the time and money to play the game... get out and play a few rounds no matter what the score. You'll improve considerably... then goto the range.

I use a Taylormade R540. I hit consistently 250+ driving, but one time....

I hit a 375yd shot, It was a 495yd par 5. It is an uphill fairway to 250yds, then downhill to the green. My drive cleared the hill about 3ft' from the ground, then rolled within a PW of the green.

It's really a brutal hole b/c if you don't clear the hill, you have 260+ to the green for your second shot.

I have never broken 100, and average ~108. I have broken 50 twice so far this year on 9's. This is the second year that I've golfed an average of once a week, so I'm pretty much a beginner. It's a great feeling knowing every week I'm improving.

btw, I cured my slice by slowing down my backswing, and the at the height of my swing I stay slow beginning the throughswing before really firing. This quieted the clubhead movement at the top creating a huge benefit to consistency and fixing my swing plane.

Longest I've hit in play was about 330 yards, birdied that hole I've hit some homers at the driving range, but couldn't give a definite number, as there's a fence at the one I go to which isn't too hard to clear.
