How fast are mini pci-e SSD cards?

Hi,
I am looking into getting a 16gb+ mini pci-e ssd card for my notebook mainly for loading games like WoW or other things I am currently working on. It only has one sata for 2.5" hd, which im already using a 320gb seagate 7200rpm. Also, no esata ports. All that remains are 1 spare mini pci-e slot and a tpm slot.

I saw on newegg the super talent ones are 90 mb/s read 50mb/s write. That seems kinda slow to me considering hdtach says my seagate already gets around 70-80mb/s sustained avg read.

Can I expect to find mini pci-e ssd cards with the insanely high 300+mb/s I see from the intel 2.5" ssd? Thanks.

Its not the sequential read but the random ones that matter IIRC.When you're loading games, I don't think its sequential.

Map loading should be sequential. In game texture streaming would be random read I would think.

mini-pcie SSDs are proprietary for each netbook.
I don't think there is a single notebook supporting them.
Most notebooks also lock down the cards you can use (Lenovo definitely does and I think HP too).

I just bought a cheapie 900a eeepc with the 4gb pcie ssd and linux. I never even bothered to boot it before I put in a supertalent 32gb SSD with the 90/55 speeds you mention. I installed windows XP, Ofc 03 and some other apps and have been using it for a day. I may have more to say in a few weeks about the performance but so far, its everything I expected.

I can't compare it to the 4gb, but can compare it to a 900HA with the 160GB spindle drive because we have had several of those recently. I haven't done any benchmarking but it seems to be on par with the 900HA. I have noticed no hesitation, and it was painless to install XP. I like it better than the rotational drive because I tend to handle these netbooks a little less gently than I do a normal notebook so it was a worthy investment for me.
