Highway +5 mph; Residential- speed limit. Interstate/Tollway 5-10 mph. Most of the time, I go with the flow.

You got that backwards. Most towns are very strict so in them you stay within 5MPH .. You can do 10 - 12 over on most highways without being bothered in most areas.

Well, he also lives in a very rural area, so Province laws and policies might not actually be the main deciding factor there.

Not really that rural TBH. People seem to think I'm living in like Attawapiskat or something. I'm not that far up there. It's still a city with a population of 45k so probably more medium sized.

But yeah typically in smaller cities cops tend to be a bit more reasonable.

My county is 20X bigger. And it ain't even the biggest that makes up the Atlanta metro area.

I keep below that 10+ mark for insurance and wallet dumping purposes. Some stupid 35s I will be doing 50 with a whole herd of others, but for the most part I like to have a few "heros" pass me. Go take on for the team, guys. I'll paypal you a few bucks....................
Yup. I'm to the right of the bell curve, but not the fastest. The most dangerous time for tickets is late at night on rural highways. I set the cruise for slightly under 10mph over limit.

The limit on the major highway near me is 55, and I always go 70. Not one mph faster though, 70 is the line between being pulled over and not being pulled over in our area in my experience.

The main road I take to work is 2 lanes, speed limit 55. For some reason, people love going exactly the speed limit on this road, and it frustrates me to no end at times. I have zero problem with slow drivers... who understand they are slow drivers and don't block traffic wanting to get by in the left lane.

I should add that no matter how many +mph or equipment you have, it never pays to be the rabbit.
LEOs love rabbits

And nothing makes your day quite like watching a rabbit bust right past you, only to be pulled over a mile down the road

That is only doable when traffic is light. During peak hours in that state (especially the LA area) you will be lucky to be going 30MPH

Red, from what I have the Canadian Police are pretty strict about speeders. And I do not know for sure if you can legally us a Radar Detector up there.

Legal in British Columbia, Alberta, and Saskatchewan.

Illegal in Newfoundland and Labrador, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick,
Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, Yukon, Northwest Territories and Nunavut.

They are only strict if you are going 20+ on highways unless you are doing some really stupid shit like speeding in unsafe conditions. They won't even look at you unless you are going over 15km/h past the limit, in Ontario anyways. I did notice that the further west you go the slower people drive.

I make a point of never being the fastest car on the road. I also try to avoid being in the passing lane if the other lanes are open. At least in NJ, everybody drives at 70 in front of the statie on GSP where the speed limit is 55 even when he is sitting in the median in plain sight.

I live in a rural area so most of my driving is on unmarked roads. No divider or edge lines & no posted speed limit, so on those about 40-50mph.
Divided roads with a posted limit of 55, 55-60mph
Highways, 5-10mph over posted limit, or flow with traffic if needed.

All these are assuming good weather/road conditions, so possibly slower in winter.
I'm also always on the lookout for animals(deer mostly), Amish buggies, 4 wheelers, etc.

I used to drive like 15 km/h over. The idea was that someone told me cops generally wouldn't bother unless it was 15 km/h over the limit since the ticket/points weren't worth much.. it kind of made sense. Then I kept pushing it and did 30 km/h on the highway sometimes and got pulled over once so stopped after that.

Haven't driven in a while but near the end, I kept it to 10 over or less. I'm an asshole.

Poll is missing an option: "Rush Hour Traffic. I average 20 in a 60, 30 if I'm lucky, and occasionally stick my head out the window for primal scream therapy. Sometimes other drivers join me.

I usually go with the flow of traffic, but my issue with speed limits is they're set for the lowest common denominator (although I can imagine insurance companies having a say in it too). I can see them applying to 18 wheelers, but a high end sports car has infinitely more maneuverability and control and a higher speed limit would be just as safe in that case.

If I'm on my own, usually +10mph, except in school zones where I stick to 15mph religiously.
