How fast is Gainward GF4 Ultra 650? Not Golden Sample

It does not say anywhere. Gainward's site only has info on golden sample produts for GF4 chipsets. I wonder how fast my GF4 4200 Ti memory is so I know how fast the card can be pushed to safely. Also, I am not sure if I need to switch the HSF for the graphics card if I want to overclock it. Thanks.

I'm not sure whether I have the exact same video card as you, because I have seen more than a couple different Gainward TI 4200's out there. Mine is the non-Golden Sample, 64 MB listed at Newegg for $148.

On top of the memory chips is the speed (on my card, anyway). They're 3.5ns. Theoretically, one should be able to safely push those to 570 MHz ((1000/3.5)*2). However, while games ARE playable at 570, I do get some minor blips and artifacts popping up. So the furthest I usually push it is 550. Stupid low-quality memory chips... I think they're called "EnTron." What a surprise, with a name that close to a failed energy company, it's no surprise that this company sucks, too.

Anyway, look at the memory chips themselves to see if they say how fast they are. Hope this helps!

hmm ok but 550 is still pretty good for overclocking. This card was the cheapest 4200 ti available. Everything else was at least 20 dollars more expensive + sh. Goooooo entron. Did you overclock the AGP bus?

I guess that my issue is that the memory chips are definitely 3.5ns -- as long as the chips themselves aren't lying! Anyway, if they're 3.5ns, that means they should O/C -SAFELY- (no freezes, no artifacts, anything) to 570MHz. But that just isn't the case. I've read other people who have said that they could only get to ~ 580 with these Entron chips, which on the whole isn't bad, but stopping only 10 MHz past the theoretical safe limit is pretty darn low for memory chips. I, on the other hand, can't even approach that theoretical safe limit.
