How good are your ears?

I am using the onboard sound card right now, I tried this with my cheap ass 90watt stereo and quality headphones....got the same results from both, I could hear all of the freqencies.....22000 was the hardest one though....and 25000 is as easy to hear as 21000....bad test? You try

This is in fact the "how good are your speakers?" test. Most speakers are rated to only 20,000Hz, and I bet that a lot of consumer-level computer speakers can't even reach that.

I heard all of it...27 years old with LOTS of time spent playing in very small rooms jamming with bands. How can my hearing still be that good?

Dont know if it matters but Qtime and windows media plays these differently. I coulnt hear it after 16,ooo with QT but I hear it to 21,000 with media play and it didnt sound right. Every thing set to normal with no eq, all flat.
Anyone else notice a diff with different players?

I HATE sounds like that. Yes, I can hear them. I can hear them all. I've got outstanding hearing. The freakin high pitch sounds from older televisions that are on in another room drives me nuts.

Yup. I figure that individual speakers would need to be calibrated and tested to make sure that they could reproduce sounds accurately, and at a consitent volume. As I understand it, only professional speakers have this kind of accuracy. Expensive speaker systems. Many hundreds or even thousands of dollars expensive.

Want to test your hearing? Go to the doctor and get a hearing test with hardware that's designed for the purpose.

Not just older TV's. Some new ones are pretty bad too.

I could hear the 20k one just fine, but not the 21k. Not sure if it was my speakers or my ears.

Me too...It was like 17,000 was easy to hear and then nothing. But I'm listening through some 4 year old headphones, so who knows.

I am the exact same way. High frequencies drive me nuts and I am very sensitive to them.

I'm pretty sure I can hear almost everything because I've had hearing tests done but my speakers are $10 ones so I thinkit's that. Hear up to 15k though.

These are the kinds of tests they give to the hearing impaired. I've been up close and personal with these numerous times. My left ear is partially deaf, and I had to take a bunch of tests while I was a youngin' to check if my hearing has been getting worse or better over the years.


Oh, I forgot to mention that sometimes after I take those tests, I will hear the low pitch in my ears for days. Thanks a lot guys! :|

25k Hz with good headphones
anything over 20k Hz is faint, but definitely there (the pitches seem to go in reverse, oddly enough, with the higher frequencies having lower pitch when over 20kHz)
