How good is ATIs RMA service?

I just got my ATI Radeon AIW 8500DV approved for an RMA, and I'm going to ship the card off today. How fast can I expect to have my new card in hand once ATI recieves my broken card?

i have heard mixed things about their rma. one guy said they gave him a new 8500 after he had cooked it from O/Cing. another guy's radeon dissapeared and ATI said that the person that signed for it was not working for them.

I don't remember the exact time frame. But I recall it being very much faster than I expected. IIRC within a week.

Just treat it like a trade with shady character. Insurance, delivery confirmation etc. Should be fine.

How long did your RMA request take? I have been waiting for 3 days to get an RMA code.

i had to rma my 8500le 4 times before they got things straight, over a period of almost 3 months

id return it where you bought it if at all possible, my experience probably isnt typical, but id hate to see someone else wait even half so long to get their card back

Doesn't ATi allow for cross-shipping a replacement? Meaning you RMA your card, and when you mail it back, ATi will mail you a new card and put a hold on your CC for the new card, and when ATi receives your RMA'ed card they remove the hold from your CC. Thus you get a new card much sooner than if you wait for them to receive yours + check it out first.

Maybe they only do so in clear-cut cases.
