I saw Pink Floyd twice with the original band ... first time was one of the first concerts I went to & was on the tour following the release of "Wish you were here" which was really good & then I saw them again in NYC for one of "The Wall" concerts which was just incredible & one of, if not the best concert I've ever seen.

Since then I saw Roger Waters twice, David Gilmore once (All three were pretty good) & Floyd minus Waters twice as well (not sure which tours) ... none of these were bad shows, but without Roger Waters its wasn't really Pink Floyd IMO.

Went to the same show, show rocked but it was pretty short.

Australian Pink Floyd band, close your eyes and you would never know the difference.

I hope that the original PF 4-man lineup will come back and play one more time before they all croak. I don't care where they play, I will be there.

i'd chose Evanescence over Pink, personally.

Pink just needs a whole new career all together, j/k

PSSSSSSST. Syd Barrett died earlier this summer... You're *not* going to see the original 4-man lineup.

I'm surprised no one mentioned that yet in this thread...

Forget Syd!?!? Blasphemy I say.

I guess some consider David, Roger, Richard, and Nick the original four Floyds. Meh...

I wasn't a huge fan of post-Waters Pink Floyd, but it was one of the best shows I've ever seen.

Same here. 1987, riught? I went to the show skeptical of a non-Waters Floyd show, but was amazed at how good the show was.

I could've done without some parts, like having five people sing Roger Water's part of Comfortably Numb.

But getting to see Gilmour play guitar. Holy crap! That man is amazing.

One of my favorite tracks performed at the concert was a song I had never heard before (I didn't own the Reason album prior to going to the concert.) Dogs of War. For some reason... maybe it was the beat or the sound effects of the growling dogs or the video of the dogs running in slow motion on the big round screen over the stage.. I LOVED hearing that song for the first time live. I was glad they put it on the Thunder album later on, but was surprised that it was not in the Pulse video.

One more anecdote: A friend of mine had seen Pink Floyd back in the 70's and he had told me that they had put speakers on turn tables at four corners of the venue. I was like, "no they didn't. You're stupid." I get to the Reason concert and in the middle of the stage were these speaker/mirror looking things spinning around in what looked like cages. I died laughing. Obviously Floyd parodying themselves. My friend that was with me couldn't figure out what I thought was so funny.

I never really really liked them with Syd. Don't get me wrong, because there were some great Syd songs, but you have to admit that the music was totally different before and after Syd flipping out.

It's sort of like before and after ELO. Roy Wood's got talent, but he added a little too much psychadelia for my liking.

I've seen them 4 or 5 times, always a great show.
I've seen Waters several times including the wall in Berlin. He does a great show too. I'm going to see him next week again. Last show I saw him do was a little more laid back in regards to special effects, it was more of a stripped down back to the music show. The band was excellent - check out the DVD and/or CD "in the flesh". The kid playing lead guitar - Doyle Bramhall (?) was excellent. If you check out the video, you'll see that he plays left hand, but it's an upside down guitar. It's strung backwards. It's incredible that someone could even play like that.

I saw the Australian Pink Floyd show last year and I will definitely go tot hat again. They are just as good as the real thing.

I saw another Floyd tribute band several months ago - "the Machine". I thought they sucked, but the crowd seemed to love them. I thought they were a bunch of hacks.

That's how my mom plays. Doesn't Paul McCartney play like that?

Just an FYI, The Australian Pink Floyd Show is having a concert in Southern California (Grove in Anaheim) if anyone is interested. PM me if you want the pre-sale password. I got some tier 2 row F tickets a little while ago.

Live at Pompeii is quite possibly one of the top 5 greatest live performances of all time, IMO. Their performance, the sound, the location, the entire mood is simply stunning. There isn't anything much cooler than putting on a "live" performance in front of NO audience in a 2000 year old stadium. I visited Pompeii and just sat there in the stadium and soaked it in. Their video captures the mood of that city perfectly.

Oh and watch the original version on the DVD, not the edited director's cut or whatever.

Best parts are the solos in Echoes Part I and the blues song with the dog.

technically, the director's cut would be the original

Of course there is the off chance that Pink Floyd will reunite again for a one-off performance.....but I certainly wouldn't count on it.

they already did.

syd barrett's pink floyd isn't the one that got them mainstream appeal.
