How good is the ATI RADEON X600 XT Video Card, 128MB DDR

I got a pci-express mobo w/ a p4 3 giga hertz.

I am wondering if I should go for the $200 ati radeon x600 xt, w/ 128mb ddr or
should i really go all out and pay $600 for the ati radeon x800 xt w/ 256 mb ddr.

I want to play 3d intensive games like doom3 and others, but I am a poor student. So
will the x600 xt hack it? or do i need to bust my budget and go for the x800?

sorry, but the x600xt is a very middle of the road video card, no it would suffer under doom3.

if you can afford it, x800xt would rock

will any cards in-between the x600xt and x800xt come out for pci-express? like the x800 pro?

or do i really have to shell out $600 to play doom3 smoothly?

X700XT and 6600GT should be out by October, they are the mid range cards (better than 9800 cards).
The X600XT is just a 9600XT on steroids and with a PCIe interface.

in fact, the x600 xt is no better then the 9600xt. it's just agp converted to pci-e using the same gpu.

I don't know what date but the 6600 will be about $150, the GT will be about $200, and the x700 will be about $200, dunno about the XT and pro versions. I'm not an expert so correct me if I'm wrong

well all the ones I looked at showed the 6600GT beating the X700XT...though not by much cept for OpenGL based games. this is coming froma fanATIc mind you

Anyway, both should be around $200-250 and I'm guessing will be out in the next 2-3 weeks.

You may also want to look here Seems like they have many PCI-E cards.

Well, to clarify that you have no idea what you're talking about, and to be fair, i'll send you the HARDOCP review, since they are traditionaly hard on nVidia. Enjoy. FarCry Keep in mind, this is a DX9 game, and from what I see, looks like each card is pretty even.

I skimmed through the article on HardOCP, did a bit of reading but mostly looking at the graphs and they seemed to be fairly even but the 6600GT woul pull ahead sometimes.
