Dude...your comments make me think you're the definition of a keyboard jockey with absolutely no time behind anything other than your "pimped" Camry.

He's probably never driven a 3 series either...and most of them are pretty bland anyway. You have to get the 335i or the M3 to get any serious performance out of them and the starting price of a 335i is in the low $40k range. Add $10k to that for an M3. A G37 sedan will stomp the shit out of a 328i and you can get into a brand new G37 sedan for the about $33k...probably less in this car market.

LMAO, I can guarantee you that I've driven 2x, 3x... nay maybe 4x the amount of cars you have ever driven.

It's called having access to a corporate paid rental fleet - aka Zipcar.

Zipcar here has like Scions and Mazda 3s and the occasional 328i or S40. lol

Driven all of those, along with the all the low end Toyotas, Mazdas, Hondas, Nissans and their SUVs. The occasional Tacoma that's available. Minis, and Priuses, S40s etc. I don't get to drive their luxury fleet very often, they charge a lot more for those. Even the 328i and Prius is up there.

I drive every distinct model I can just to see what they're like, and all for 500+ miles. All fairly new as Zipcar doesn't keep any car longer than 2 or 3 years.

LOL!!!

Looks like YOU haven't driven both of them. I happened to have driven the 328i (but haven't been in a 335i) AND a G35 (same body as new G37), and the 328i, felt way better dynamically.

Actually, I don't think it's quite fair to compare a 335i to a G37, since I believe it costs like $5 grand more.

BMW 1, Infiniti may get a point in another 5 years of development.

oh...that's quite an e-penis you have there. I now feel awkward.

It doesn't mean crap what I've driven...my point is what you have driven as you were the one shitting on the guys choice of a G by saying they were "pathetic". If you had actually driven a 3 series and a G next to each other, you may not say the G was better than the 3...but to say it is "pathetic" makes you come off as a BMW fanboy or clearly lacking in any objective ability to review a car...which makes me think you are a keyboard jockey.

Well, it's pathetic when you consider how long it has been vying to beat the BMW 3, and it can't even top the base model.

I'm not saying it's a horrible car, (actually, I think the sedan is disgusting looking).

I thought every Maxima owner's dream is to upgrade to a GT-R. G's are pretty pathetic all things considered. How many years has it tried to be better than 3 series?
No.

Like Jules said, the G37 will "stomp the sh*t" out of the base 3. You know this, why are you arguing otherwise?

Prickly the Prius is great for what it tries to be, which is nothing fast, but it works.

Sorry you sound like fanboy/dash-stroker. What car do you own?

As far as the A4, we have had too many issues with Audi and VW. I like the CTS but would crave the CTS-V and current career plans have me on a reasonable budget for the next couple years. BTW I will have a GTR or 911 TT in few years.

Stomp the shit? It's faster. That's about it.

Let me see if reviews agree with me, going to google...

Edit: Yup, in a 4-way, the 328i beats the second place G37 according to C&D:

It tries to be fuel efficient...having good luck with that? You and the wife still happy with the purchase? I have feeling my wife will be wanting one next time we're shopping for a car for her...and I pretty much have told her she gets what she wants this time around...so just interested in how you're "coping" with it since you originally wanted a G35/7.

LOL when somebody says "stomp the sh*t" when referring to cars what the heck do you think they are talking about? Seat comfort? Brightness of headlights?

Most of our tanks around city are about 49-50mpg, for a real world 47-48. I've done long stretches in the mid 50's. I'll get a nicer/more fun car at some point (maybe), but even in a fast car 99% of the time we're all the same just trying to get from point A to B and it really is a cheap way to do it. So, no regrets and I think of my Maxima only infrequently.

I used to have the previous gen G35 4 door in 6MT. I wanted to get the current G35/37 4 door in 6MT and looked 3 months for one. I could not find one. I ended up getting a 335i E90 6MT which I had to special order and that took 3 months to get.

Whenever I took my G35 in for service, the service tech would be shocked. They told me they would rarely see a 6MT. Maybe 1x a month at most. I got really lucky when I got my car. It was sitting in the show room floor but it had already been sold 15 mins earlier. The salesman later came up and said the guy didn't pass a credit check so I jumped all over it. It was a great car.

Good to hear; I'm hoping mine lasts for quite a while. Nice pick on the 335i though.

My 335i has had major problems from the second month up till last month. I've had 3 HPFPs, fuel injectors and my stereo replaced.

I did have one major problem with the G35 though. I have had the car completely shut down on the highway when changing a cruise control setting. The whole dash lit up and I lost all power including steering and brakes. It was pretty scary especially when going 75MPH. I stopped using the cruise control after that. I had this happen to me two times. Besides that, I loved the car. Although the 335i would destroy my G35 in performance, I liked the G35 overall due to its size, lack of problems, options, etc.

Got the authorization to retire the 02 Max SE and get a new G37 Sport (6 speed/4 door) and can only find one within 200 miles and it is some type of ugly Teal color. Are these always that difficult to find or do they have to be ordered?

Send me a PM if you are still looking for one.

Finngolfin269,

Thanks for your help, it looks like I have to order one but it will have to be a 2011 model. I guess I may have to look at other cars. Maybe my wife will change her mind and consider the 335i.

If you want a stick, you may have to special order it like me. It took me 3 months to get mine bc of a factory slow down in December. Usually will take about 2 months though. If you have time, and you really want the BMW, you should go for the European Delivery option. It will actually be cheaper even with the trip.

That's an interesting option but I can't get away for a couple weeks and I think I would be able to swing a similar deal locally. I am now estimating December before I can get a G37 so we have 4 or so months to see if another vehicle may be a better fit. After the 2011 pricing comes out for the G37 we may be able to find a good deal on an 2010 335i.
