How hard is it to mod a X850XT into single slot?

Check out the "X1800XT for $450" thread where I say that's a good deal too.

maybee its time for the return of the Savage range..... i loved that name. voodoo was nice too......but not so...so...so savage.
or XGI could kill us all with a wondercard. But i think that they are playing the market well at the moment. they could be a force 4-5 years down the line.

I've got the AIW X800 XT (500/500 stock OC'd to 540/550) and it plays COD2 at 1280x1024 4xAA 4xAF with all the treats turned on. It was IMHO the best AGP video card at the time. I now see that you can get an X850 XT non-AIW for a bit less but's it's the beefy 2 slot version and my X800 XT can get close to X850 XT speeds with stock cooling so it's all good.

i decided not to wait for the x1700 and broke down to get an x850xt . . . will my 9800xt's VGA cooler fit? Personally i like exhausting the hot air out of my case and don't mind losing that 1st PCI slot.

It depends on which version it is.
some will some wont. whatever it is i always stick on new pthermal past anyway, so if you are going to do something similar then try it out then.

Howdy. I would trade you my BBA 800XT PE for your 850xt if you want. I have outfitted it with an Artic silencer already but I do have the stock hs. That way you have two options. I just need a card for my garage TV/UTserver. That is where the 800 is now. I turn on that machine on Friday night and turn it off on Sunday night. The 800XT PE is a great card. Just an option.
