How high have you gotten your 2.4c stable?

What mobo did you use? BIOS Ver?
Vcore?
What ram brand? Timing?
Game Accelerator settings if using an Abit board? (not sure if otehr boards have something similiar)
What divider?

For me I think my max for my 2.4c is 3g@1.55v. It would load up at default vcore and run everything fine but prime95 would fail minutes after running. Uppinng the V allowed it to pass the tests. I'll probably take it to default unless something I do crashes it then I'll know why.

My ram timing are on SPD using HyperX 3500. I'm using 5:4 divider.

My mobo is an Abit IC7 with the 1.04 bios and the Game Accelerator settings are all on auto.

I think my limiting factor is the CPU because I tried the 3:2 divider and it still wouldn't boot at 275 fsb. And the fact that I had to up the vcore to get prime to not fail also led me to believe this. I can probably get it higher with a higher vcore but Im reluctant to do so because having experienccing SNDS on my old 1.6a.

Just wondering what settings you guys used and may try it!

While it could be the CPU, The Abit boards (and possibly all Canterwood boards?) have problems with Memory using Winbond CH-5 chips.
The 5:4 and 3:2 dividers do not work correctly at 251+FSB. You get no POST when using them and high FSBs. I had this problem myself until I got different memory, above 250FSB and I wouldn't be able to POST no matter what. Others have reported the same thing as well.

Theres a thread on the Abit official forums about it here, you should check it out.

My system does post at 270 but can't get into winddows. I'll play around with it some more and test out 1:1 to see if its my ram.

Id be willing to bet it's your memory. No one has been able to get their P4C chips to boot past 250fsb with CH-5 chipped ram. =(

I have Kingston HyeprX PC3500 512MB X2. Anyone know what the brand of chips are on these DIMM's??
----------------------------------
As for the O'Cin, I think I'm being held back by having a full Gig of ram, as I hear others have the same problem getting a higher OC when you have a gig of ram??

Now, Im running a ABIT IC7 Bios 1.4, Kingston HyperX PC3500 512MB X2 @ 204Mhz @ 2.8Vdimm, CAS 2-2-2-5; AGP/PCI Locked, FSB Divider 5:4; Vcore Default 1.525 (even thought my ABIT usually undervolts the Vcore to around 1.488Vcore??); PSP800, FSB 255Mhz, 2.4c Retail with a Zalman 7000AlCu.

Hope this helps.

Is the problem posting from a warm or cold boot? Because I can post at 251-260 with 5:4 and get into windows it's just that prime fails and I don't wanna up the vccore to get it staable :frown:

Currently testing my 2.4C on an Asus P4C800-E Deluxe with 2X512MB XMS3200LL @ 2-3-3-6-4 cranked up to 270FSB or 3.26MHZ. CPU is at default voltage topped with an MCX4000 and a 92mm Sunon running 96/114 degrees no load/load. DDR voltage @ 2.65v. Memeory divider 5/4 (320).
It runs stable chewing on Super Pi and 3dMark 2001 at the same time so I think she's good for a bit more

Edit: add bios ver 1008

Well I tried ocing more but Prime would not pass test past 250 fsb. I even tried disabling the last 2 Game Accelerator settings but that doesn't do anything. Maybe if I upped the voltage more it would past prime but I don't wnana do that. I tried 260 running sandra burn in with 3dmark loopin figuring I could just forget Prime95 but 3dmark closes itself after some tests. So I just backed it down to 250 fsb and just accepted that my cpu will only go this far @ 1.55v. Sad

got my 2.4c up to 3.0Ghz @ 1.53v (says CPU-Z) Default voltage is 1.475 which will get me almost there (see sig- FSB 240Mhz, 5/4 divider), unfortunately i only have the stock intel HSF , but I know this bad boy is ready to rock'n'roll....

As soon as I get some better cooling, i plan on taking this baby up, up, up....

I know everyone has been lovin' there Asus and Abit boards, and I have also been a Asus fan for a long time, but the Lanparty board seemed to attract me, partially cause of looks, mostly becuase of the onboard IDE RAID, but I can say I've been VERY happy with this board. Hopefully I can get this happy.... One Fast 2.4c+LanPartyPRO875! heehee

Oh and BTW this is my first post at Anand, what was wrong w/me, all read and no post!? Hope to change that! So Hello, and Good day everyone!!!

Well, the setup is as follows:

P4 2.4C (can't remember pack date, but it's SL6WF Malay)
Abit IS7
2x512MB cheapo PC3200 RAM (Elixir I think)
Cooler is a Zalman CNPS7000-AlCu with AS3
Case is an Antec Sonata with 380W and 2x12cm case fans

All I can hit is a 230MHz FSB (2760MHz) with default voltages and a 4:5 DDR:CPU ratio, even at 235 Prime95 starts getting errors. I originally had the stock HSF installed, but the result is exactly same with the Zalman, albeit the temperatures do seem slightly cooler (still not by a lot - didn't do any scientific research though). The IS7 temperature readings are totally unrealiable though, so can't say any exact numbers.

The memory shouldn't be the culprit here I think, since the system does run fine synchronized at 200MHz FSB. Still, I've tried relaxing the timings (to CAS 3, but cpuz still shows 2.5), tweaking the mobo game accelerator settings (setting them on basically just makes the unable to boot), upping voltages of both the CPU (to over 1.6V) and RAM (to 2.8V) but no go.

So to me at least it seems that 2.76GHz is as far as the CPU will go. I wasn't looking at anything over 3GHz anyway (although it would have been nice), but I'm kind of baffled as how to everyone else seems to be getting ridiculous clocks from their identical CPUs. Oh well.

If anyone does have any suggestions though, I'm open for them.

See rig in sig. 2-3-3-6-4, vcore 1.584, vdimm 2.75, MAM enabled, performance mode standard. BIOS v1.007. Stable to Prime and a bunch of other programs running simultaneously. FSB 266MHz memory 4:5 (ca 3.2GHz with 425MHz memory). I think I can go higher once I install some better cooling options. I currently max around 56C with retail HSF.

Why do some of you have your SDRAM Burst Lengths set to 4? A setting of 8 is faster.

Wow!

Nice OC!

Just got my IC7, so will post after Priming - which it is now with 2 instances going at 275fsb, 1.725vcore (1.65/fl - 1.68/idle actual). More details after.

Thanks !

Forgot to mention it's from COSTA RICA, in case there are any Malay devotees reading this.

People say that but a burst length of 4 benchmarks better. I've tried it with loose and tight timings, same thing. Maybe it's because I always run MAM enabled.

Even nicer that it's a Costa Rica chip! I'm all about Malays myself, but I know enough that it's still crap shoot with good OCers.

What's the FPO/Batch on yours?
