how high would i have to oc a gts 450 to reach similar levels of a stock gtx 460 768mb? i found an article somewhere a few weeks ago saying you have to oc the core, shader, and memory to a specific amount to reach similar performance on 1920x1080 to gtx 460 768.

http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gts-450-review-roundup/19

10 differnt 450s reviewed, and compaired to other cards too like the 460 1gb and 460 768.

The palit has a 930mhz core/ 1860 MHz shader / 4000 MHz memory (fastest 450 in the review).
It usually scores around 2/3's of what a 460 768 does.
So its about ~33% slower or so in most things than a 460 768.

Even if you managed above 1000mhz on the core ect.... I just dont see how you can get 33% more performance out of a already factory overclocked card. Which basically means theres just no way a 450 can catch a 460 768.

*edit:
a 450 only has about 57 GB/s memory bandwidth.... a 5770 card is in the 76.8 GB/s range.
These cards usually compair against one another with the 450 loseing by abit... I think the memory bandwidth is a huge bottle neck on the 450s.... your chances of getting a 5770 to match a 460 768 are probably better than getting a 450 to do it. Even then... Id be skeptical of something like that ever happending.

How much are you willing to spend on liquid nitrogen?

@Blastingcap

You know anything above Watercooling + Tec (Peltier) is unreasonable
(most people are happy if they reach -40°C on stuff with watercooling+tec)

Doesnt Liquid Nitrogen cap out around −196°C ?
why not Liquid Helium and go for the -269 °C?

(you might need to extra cooling for that 450 to reach 460 performance lmao)

Yea, some reviews I have seen....puts the GTS 450 a hair slower than the GTS 250, which is basically a 9800GTX.
