How hot does the trunk of a car get?

I'm moving and shipping my car (it's dark gray) across the US and I figured that the easiest way to move my desktop would be to stick it in the trunk. Anyone have any experience with this? Does the trunk ever get hot enough to damage a computer?

The components get hot as it is when the computer is running, so I'd figure it would be ok.

I'd be hesitant to put an LCD panel in there though. I think screens are sensitive to heat.

I've moved my desktop in my trunk for 3 hours on a 90 degree day, it was fine.

Most circuits are good up to probably 50* C + when off.

Not taking my LCD, just the desktop. Even removing my hard disks and video card as I don't trust the amount of jolting that those can take from the auto carrier. So it'd be just psu, mobo, cpu, and case.

While the cores get really hot while the computer is operational, I'm not sure if it can handle the entire thing being exposed to around 140 F or so I hear.

Most auto shippers won't let you ship the car with anything in the car or trunk. They don't want to be liable for loss.

YOU probably don't want to ship your PC across country in the trunk of a shipped car...if you actually want it to arrive.

seriously. suck it up and haul it with you, OP, or pack it well and ship it insured, pack the HDs separately, maybe the video card too. all insured.

moving is a bitch as it is, dont take any shortcuts...its not worth it.
