How hot is too hot?

I just slapped in my retail p3700 into my asus p3bf mobo, stock HS and Fan with an MSI6905 slotket set at the default settings.
It booted and ran at 933 at 1.65v but the readings I was getting from MBM4.18 had the cpu temp running at 148F. I backed it off to 868 and default voltage MBM now indicates 54C/129F. My question is how accurate is the cpu temp reading with MBM using a slotket? Also how hot is too hot?

most times not too acurate, but as far as your systemis stable then don't worry, also try many monitoring progs

thanks for the info.I guess my concern is I don't know how accurate the temp readings are.The case temp always indicates about 80F no matter what the cpu temp is. I just bumped it up to 933 at default(1.65v) voltage and MBM reads 135-143F. Only other problem is it only detects 208mb(256 installed) ram at that speed.i don't think my pc133??? memory is up to the task.

I've said this before to people about the P3B-F and it's true.. the temp readings it puts out are false
they are higher than actual
the Asus BIOS page even has a BIOS fix for the problem
I believe it's 1005
if you want to fix that problem try that.. otherwise, if it's stable, run it. it's almost for sure cooler than it says.

yes...true...the cpu is ok if it is stable enough....even u put more voltage(not to say use 3.2v for CII, )overclock it at higher speed...as long as it is stable...go ahead
