How hot is too hot

I have a athlon TB 950 non overclick

It runs idle normal around 90-95°. But under heavy usage it can go up to 150° or over 60°C And sometimes it locks up my system.

I currently have a pos antec cpu cooler with aric silver II thermal compound.

Anyway i can get the heat down If it is too hot? Or do i just have a bad yeild?

Also what is CPU hysteresis?

I have the new alpha 8045T with a Fan comming in. Hopefully that would help right?

if its unstable its too hot
if its too hot, get a better heatsink/fan. I'm not sure what you mean by "bad yeild".

Silicon can normally handle about 85 degrees C before it starts to burn up, although the stability problem you talk about shows that its too hot.

What is your cooling setup? However good your HSF, if you have poor in case temps, then you'll still get hot CPU temps. Have you got front/rear case fans?

What kinda HSF are you using??? Does the interior of your case have enoguh room for a good airflow??

Those two is what you should check to have low temps. Try leaving your case open and see if the temp drops or not.

It'll be normal if your pc locks up at anything higher than 60c.

The Alpha will GREATLY help. If it doesn't, your case has TERRIBLE air flow.

I should have added this.

I have a side case fan for internal air, one for my HDs (so they don't create much heat, the fan is a case fan with plastic tie thingys to cool them down, this is a ghetto rig, but it works well), and one for output in the back. SO i have 3 case fans, so i doubt ventaliation is a problem. On top of that i keep my case slightly open, (my side cover is tilted)

The HSF i have is Antec Cool master.. With artic Silver compound.

My case heat is around 85° doesn't deviate much from than that.

OK, I'd suggest adding a front case fan anyway... (I know noise isnt v. nice)

You might ry moving the fan from the side to the front, that might get a cooler case...

I'd say 100 shipped for a GF TI500 card with no MIR is too hot. I would be thinking something was fishy, especially if the company honored the deal.

Oh, where talking CPU hottness...... Hmm.... as long as it works, and is 100% stable, it is not too hot
