My friend's XP2100 + is running at 62C with a Volcano 7+ CPU and Arctic Silver 3 newly reapplied. This seems way too hot even with the case off. How hot is yours running at?

Running w/the case open is only beneficial if you have a bigass house fan blowing directly on the mobo. Good cases are designed to cool properly with the case CLOSED, not open.

Aside from the PS that has two fans, I have two exhaust fans and no intake fans at all. Antec 1040 case has a wide open front grill area. If you put your hand in front, you can feel the air being drawn thru the front grill.

Oh, My XP2100 @ 2.16GHz is surfing and playing MP3s as I type. 41C. UT2K3 gets it to 47-48C. 24hrs of Prime95 TT gets it to 49C. That's it.

EDIT
AX-7/ASIII/Vantec Stealth fan. *it's quiet too*

Uh my XP2000 is, on average, 36 idle, 40 under heavy load.

This is with Volcano 7, ASII, 5 case fans (antec 1080), 2 PSU fans.

24 C case and 34 C CPU currently. At load my cpu gets up to 40-42C.
Temps from mbm. Sensor taped to side of cpu heatsink (as close to cpu as I could get) registers 89.5 F.

Tbredb 2100+
12x196 @ 1.775 vcore (1.79 according to mbm)
SLK 800 with YS Tech variable speed fan (set about mid point).
8RDA+
6 case fans (2 ADDA adjustable front in, 2 Vantec Stealth side in, 1 ADDA top out, 1 ADDA back out) - not the quietest system, but not bad. The ADDA fans, in particular, seem a bit loud and will be replaced with Panaflos.

Vantec Aeroflow cooler. Nanotherm Blue II compound applied
One 80MM intake, One 80MM exhuast case fan
Enermax 433 PS with dual fans with speed control
166FSBx13.5=2.241Ghz at 1.675V

Idle 33C
Full load under prime torture test: 37C

Pretty impressed with how this whole entire setup has performed thus far. Really liked the nanotherm blue II. Might give there XTC line a try next time, but this is doing great for now.

Motherboard sensors have a large part to do with it also... Most Abit mobos overtemp quite a bit.

The V7+ is a fine hsf. You either have it installed backwards (unlikely, as it will run hotter than that) or you are reading the internal diode on the cpu which generally reads 20C higher than the onboard, under cpu sensor. My Epox 8k3a reads both, onboard reading is 37-38C, on cpu die reading is 57-60C.

Asus A7N8X Deluxe w/xp2100+
running @ 2.21 (170x13) 1.8v
Not 100% stable, will only run Prime95 for over an hour, but passes every other bench/cpu tester. Fairly certain it's my gig of Mwave $53(x2) DDR266 holding me back. I push FSB up a wee bit, and Prime95 will only run for a couple minutes. :disgust:

room 23C
mobo 24C, under heavy load only goes up 1C to 25C.
CPU 38C, under heavy load only 4 up to 42C.
Using Vantec Aeroflow, in an X-Spider case from XPcases.com (comes with 4 led fans, and PSU with dual fans).

from other people's posts these temps aren't too incredible! no pics at the moment.

it's a Fong Kai case. ambient temp is 21 (70F). there is a 120mm panaflo and 80mm generic in front and a 90mm exhaust. enermax PSU has the 2 fan set-up,

this morning it was @ 38c after running prime all night long. the ambient temp was 18, though so it looks like full load is 20 degrees above ambient?

My 2100 12.5x180 (2250Mhz) @ 1.775v with Alpha 8045 and a crappy low noise fan is now at:

40C Idle
45C Load

62C something is wrong IMO

Max temp before it melts or something? I think AMD said something like 80 or 90, but that's way to high to be running it normally. I'd set the alarm to about 80.

I just set up a system with a Tbred XP2100+ -- running a 24 hour burn in with Win2K -- 47 degrees C here. Fan arrangement:

Dual fan Power supply
Fan on side of case (over the CPU)

Heatsink/fan -- GC 88 Cooler
