brilliant idea, propellerhead. i'm going to do this mod on my machine. i'll let you know my results. right now my cpu runs at 54C at full load.

i have one question tho: do you not need to somehow exhaust the hot air out of the case? or does the power supply take care of that?

i have 2 120mm fans mounted to the side of my case, so i'm going to use one for the ducting like you did, and the other for exhaust. i'm wondering if i need to install a second duct for exhaust tho. any info would be great.

Ok I did the mod, here are some pics of what I did:

PIC 1
PIC 2
PIC 3

My CPU was running at 1920mhz at 1.75 volts at 54C under full load before the mod.

After the mod, my CPU is running at 2000mhz at 1.75 volts at 45C under full load.

Thanks again for the tip. You just saved me buying a new HSF.

BOY! Look at all that dust!

That's a great idea, actually! I have a side fan as well...I should route the air from the side fan to my cpu...

Yeah, it's really dusty where I live. No matter how much I vacuum, dust magically appears.

To do the mod, all you need to do is measure where your CPU fan is in relation to your case, then do a bit of math and cut the cardboard so that it perfectly lines up. I used some duct tape to adhere it to the fan. Good luck

I'll probably use some other material...hehe.

That isn't dusty!
If I feel like it later, I may open up a machine or two here, and show you what real dusty is, w/ a 3500+ pollen count, a cat and a smoker.
Dusty is when the stock AMD cooler doesn't work because the spaces between the fins are literally filled with dust, from the bottom to the fan.
On a side note, I'll be getting a new HSF for some peace and quiet, and will likely make a duct w/ foam board, so as not to be so tacky.

Not the sprite thing, all the tape just used everywhere. I want it to be neat.
However, I'm somewhat obsessive. I have high standards and will take however long is needed to reach them. I make up in patience what I lack in skill.
