How I picked up 650 CDRs in one day and got paid for it (AR, AC)

1. Go to staples. Pick up the 100 pack of Philips CDRs (Item #486568). They're $39.99, use 10 off 40 coupon and get them for $29.99 + tax. There is a $20 MF rebate and $20 from staples. Make $10 on this.

2. Go to CC. Pick up 200Pk of STI CDRs (Item is CDR200) for $49.99 + tax. There is a $35 CC rebate that prints out. Search in another AT thread for this topic specifically which gives you the original $20 rebate that is valid (CC changed the dates later, but original form stays unchanged). Make $5 on these.

3. Go to OfficeMax. Pick up the 200pk of CDRs called Value Disc (Item # 20148519). They're $39.99. Also pick up something to make $10 - such as a Teltek 13 memory speakerphone which also has a $10 rebate. Use the $20 off $50 OfficeDepot coupon floating around the net to get both for around $30 + tax. OM accepts competitor coupons, so you should be able to use it. You get $45 back in rebates, so you make roughly $15 (minus taxes).

4. (Optional - I did go to OM twice). I did this by mistake at first. I saw an OM flyer for 100pk of Hi-Val CDRs (Item # 20068784) for $30 with $30 rebate. But when I bought them, I paid $39.99 for them. I later went back to adjust price based on this ad. Also picked up for $16.99 a pack of 32x 50 Hi-Val CDRs (Item # 20068819) with $15 rebates (as shown on the front page of OM's homepage). The rebate is actually valid for 16x OR 32x CDRs, but I could only find 32x in the store. I was hoping they would be free (eg. $15 - $15 in rebates), but ended up paying $16.99 for them. It's ok I suppose. So for this deal, you spend $1.99 + tax.

I was lucky to be able to PM to the local/regional ad, but if you couldn't, just use the $20 off $50 coupon so it becomes ($39.99 - $30 rebate) + ($16.99 - $15 rebate) - $20 coupon = MAKE $8 on 150 CDRs.


The end result? I'm hoping to get paid ~$20-25 after all taxes and expenses for 650 CDRs. Cheap cds? Yeah, but who cares?

Edit: Forgot to ad - some of the OM stuff may be regional, and all the above is entirely B&M. Online does not work...

well, basically i was low on cd's, and i did have a lot of divx's to burn (legit movies thank you). plus the fact that i probably won't be seeing much AT deals for long, so i thought i'd better stock up.

but i agree... i kinda went nuts today. hope it pays off!

You need that much or more if you are burning Japanese Anime.

There is litterally enough anime to fill like 2000 discs.

Heh, I remember I jumped on the 200 Prime Peripherals CDR's deal awhile back. Bought 3 boxes. Used 500 and I just found another 100 laying around last month.

I guess I could use another 600 or so cdr's! More rebates = More responsiblity.

I have about 2500 right now, and I'm not even burning the new stuff. Have about 300 unwatched gigs of new anime that is coming out this year. There is enough anime for 1,000,000 discs.

Maybe you should document and photocopy everything. I scan all my rebate forms, receipts, and UPC codes. Out of the $500+ in rebates this year that i've received from various companies, i've twice had to fax my copied info and within a couple of weeks i had the rebate.

Copy, copy, copy and save everything!

I dunno dude, I'd rather have no CDRs than cheap ones. Maybe I use it for different purposes, but nothing is more frustrating than thinking you'll have a certain movie or a certain app, and then popping in a CD that can't be read.

I agree with cameronj...if I have to use them as coupon filler, it's great, plus I can use them for short term data storage(dunno, just crap you don't care too much about but want to burn onto VCD so you can watch on your DVD deck). But other than that I'd stick with the good stuff...going through my old CD-R's I found that a HUGE portion of my CD-R's are now worthless crap. *sigh*

No. Companies always say that they didn't receiver YOUR info. They always seem to receive mine. Maybe you need to follow instructions more carefully. I sent about 30 rebates for last Thanksgiving alone and only didn't receive one of them. But I didn't bother cuz it was only $5.

Rebates are great! Especially when you make money. Like $12 to take home a spindle of Taiyo Yudens. Thanks CC!

I'm in same boat............sent nearly 80 or so rebates out last year........only ONE did not come in. I'm working on recovering it now through Office Max. My favorite companies have been Staples as far as reliability. I love rebates!!!

I use my cdrs as coasters even if they're good. some are scratched up, etc...and they still run fine. however when I watch a movie or anime or something that has no reply value, I throw it down the hall and it ends up in someone elses room within the hour.
