How is BFGs Lifetime Warranty?

Is the company BFG pretty good about honoring their warranties or should I get New Eggs additional warranty of three years? Just placed an order for a BFG GTS 8800 640mg card.

Didn't have luck with EVGs lifetime warranty program as they said my card had a slight chip on the edge. I didn't see it and they could have completely tested the card and verified the artifacts on the screen caused by heat or unknown factor. I don't think these card companies even test the cards for customer complaints when they get them back to their factory. They just look for slight handling defects and reject the claims when they can.

BFG's warranty is good. I wouldn't waste money on (any) retailer's warranty. On the other hand, it's hard to imagine that EVGA rejected your RMA due to a slight chip on the edge. How 'slight' is the chip and where on the card is it? They replaced my 7950GX2 while back, and I had a capacitor broken. (not sure if I did it or it came that way. I found it later on. The RMA reason was due to severe artifacting in Call of Duty 2 - other games were fine)

If the slight chip is the one I'm seeing... it in no way interferes with the function of the card as it is on the outer edge and no circuit traces are involved. I work in a semiconductor environment and I know how to treat these cards...like glass and with all the static precautions.

Probably just depends on who the inspector was and how picky for a reject. I have heard that they also reject for slightly bent pins on their motherboards. I say just move the pins back...test and move on!

Never had the oppurtunity to try it, but I've alwas thought of it as a gimmick. If you bought a card expensive enough to be worth replacing even after the standard 3 year warranty of most other card manufacturers, you probably wouldn't be keeping it longer than that. If you went budget, you could probably save on the shipping/return charges and get something similar immediately.

~Had the "BUT IT'S LIFETIME WARRSNTY!!!" sales pitch thrown at me over and over again when I tried getting a pricematch (a whole freaking $5) on other brands of a 7600gt.

BFG's warranty is definately top-notch.

I've been buying BFG cards pretty-much since the company's inception for multiple computers, and I've returned two of their cards over the years. Both times, I had no problems obtaining an RMA or receiving a replacement in quick order.

They have 24/7 toll-free customer service lines, and don't hassle you over getting an RMA. If you have a problem with the card, they'll replace it.

Don't waste money on a NewEgg warranty... BFG will ensure their card for the life of the product (and if they don't have your card anymore, they've been known to replace an old card with a newer card).

lifetime vs lifetime of product

most use the products liftime as thwe warranty, so when they stop making it, you be screwed. well not screwed, they have "like" replacements i believe.

i had 3 evga warranties, one on a GPU and i thught they didn't really test either. in fact this was before they officially supported changing coolers and oc'ing, both which i had done so i told the service rep i didn't think i could get warranty on it and he was the one who told me that they didn't even check.

and getting a replacement 680i board from them that squealed like that dude in deliverance under any heavy load would seem they don't do much checking on whats coming back and going out of that rma dept.

i still love evga
