now that you guys have tested it for a few weeks how is it. does it have any serious problems. someone offered to sell me one for $450, would you say that is a reasonable price? and is it enough of an upgrade from driodx?

i have 2 friends with it, its fast and smooth. the blur isnt horrid but IMO still annoying the display is better then the droid 3 but the pentile still annoys me as i can see it at all times. if you dissable 4G and run 3G only the battery life is great (there is no 4G where we are)

only issues i know of are that some people have a HUMMM comming from the headphone port and it creeks as its plastic and not as solid as some other phones

it also comes preinstalled with 20 or so bullshit bloatware aps you cant remove

A guy I work with got one. It's very fast. Not sure about battery life. He went out and bought the HDMI adapter cable for it and we took it down the hall to the conference room. It puts the screen image on the HDMI output and allows you to use the touch screen as a mouse touchpad. Very smooth design...we streamed Netflix over the 4GLTE and it seemed to skip a little more on the big screen than it did when not tied to HDMI...probably because of the need for more data to compensate for the larger display.

I'm tempted to replace my DROID 1 with a Bionic, but am not a fan of the larger sized phones. It's about the same size as a DROIDX.

I just became eligible for new every 2. Can't decide if I should upgrade my OG Droid to a Bionic or hold out for an Ice Cream Sandwich device to get released later this year.

Since you just became eligible, you can afford to wait for ICS.

Right...I'm really in no hurry. The OG Droid has served me well. The screen has been locking up a little bit recently, but nothing I can't deal with. The only reason I might upgrade before ICS is out is because the smartphone market is on such a fast upgrade cycle. No matter when you pull the trigger on a new device, something bigger and better is basically always being released within the next 90 days.

Right. I'm actually more nervous about grabbing the wrong hardware. Knowing android's track-record, the OS interface doesn't seem to phase me as much as having the right-sized screen and a quality-feeling phone with a decent camera and good wireless connectivity (3G/4G/Wifi/Bluetooth/GPS). Any OS issues will likely be resolved in updates.

That tends to be the case, however staying informed with smartphone news and luck with timing can land you a better bang for the buck.

Even if they wanted to, OEM's can't improve phones evenly over time. For me it's more of a cycle that begins with introduction of next gen technology, resulting in a performance leap over current devices, followed by a period of stagnation during which phones are rehashed.

Phones are sold at pretty much the same price point which gives me incentive to wait, if my discount eligibility coincides near introduction of next gen phones.

It's nature of the tech business, every year tech like desktops, smartphones, video cards are left behind because they can't run properly/ can't run at all newest OS's, apps and games. It's semi-educated guessing of phone's life expectancy and value degradation over time.

I came from a droid X and it's amazingly fast. Got 9hrs and 50% use/left on my stock battery.

450 for a non-subsidized price is pretty decent, I think, for a brand new device without any blemishes.

One of my docs bought one, it feels plasticy and creaks... The UI is nice and it's fast as hell though...

I just picked it up from the VZW store. It is fast, but it does feel cheaper than my OG droid. That thing was a tank, I really liked the feel of it.

Been using one since release day and I love it. Granted, I came from a Palm Pixi, so this is my first real Android phone. However,I've had no issues with it. It's definitely fast, and I find nothing wrong with the display (but again, this is my first phone of this type). IMO, you can't go wrong, assuming the pentile display does not bother you, which it does not for me.

As for construction, I tossed mine in a Otterbox Defender the day I bought it so, have not really handled it outside of the case. For the short while I did, it seemed fine to me.

Didn't care for mine, Selling it already. I will say that I actually do like the screen on the phone. Only complaints apart from the battery door are software issues.

The first was an issue with the Social Networking app, second day I had it it popped up and said both twitter and facebook had an incorrect password. It wouldn't let me delete the accounts either, telling me that it couldn't delete them because their passwords were incorrect. Checked moto forums and found this had happened to a few people and the only fix was factory resetting the phone.

The second was a 20 second or so dead zone whenever my phone switched between 3g and 1x. Which happens a lot where I work. Never had this happen with my Droid X or my fascinate, or even my iPhone.

We have network extenders and I believe it's having issues with them for some reason.

this type of issue is exactly what i was wondering about. that might feel like a downgrade from dx if it happened a lot

I came very close to getting one until the deal breaker came down. An additional 30$ monthly fee.. for 2gb per month.. Can you believe the nerve of the customer service reps... it was one of the last things mentioned so you know they must feel like an asshole for asking you to pay another 30$ fee while you are already paying on a data plan. I might just root my phone and tether everything out of spite because of this entire make the customer pay for what they are already paying for mentality they have.

I have had the Bionic since launch and love the phone. My only real issues with the phone are:

1. When the phone is charging, the screen is almost unusable, when I touch the screen it will activate another part of the screen. I'm not sure if this is a problem with my phone specifically or Android in general as I've seen this issue after searching a bit on google.

2. When I have the phone out in the sun I can see vertical blue lines running up and down the screen. I am assuming this has to do with the PenTile screen.

Other than that I have no real issues with this phone, it's fast and responsive and is a huge upgrade over the Blackberry Tour I came from.
