I don't know if I would compare wet, freshly cut raw trees to dried, dimensional lumber but go off. With the crazy prices of everything now, been getting more creative when I need building material.
Picked up this load at my off grid property yesterday. That's replacing about $300 in lumber. (6x6x12 posts is probably closest equivalent) Cost me $60 or so in gas to get. Probably should have loaded up on more now that I think of it. Will be using these as-is for this particular project but I do want to setup a sawmill soon. Wanted to do that this year but stuff came up.
Funny enough, you don't get tailgated with a load like that.

My total expenses this year is roughly the same as last year, but that is only because I got a cheaper mortgage for the start of the year. Next year expenses will definitely be higher. I'm able to save about 10% of my income, after everything is paid including extra pension savings.
that is crazy.I'm up nearly 60% from this time last year. Electric bills nearly doubled, paying $200/mo more for gas, food prices are insane, home insurance went up raising my house payment...it's rough.
Strip the bark before you bury them. They'll rot faster with the bark attached. It will work for what I need. I have some existing dimensional lumber for the rest of the project, these will be the main posts going into the ground. It only needs to hold solar panels so not like it's going to be holding lot of weight. I'll eventually setup a sawmill so I can make proper dimensional lumber though as I am starting to run out of that. When I build my cabin I rather do standard dimensional lumber style construction vs log, as it's just easier to insulate, seal etc.
