How is intel haswell 4600 graphics vs mid range cards?

So I have two intel motherboards to pick from, one I really want has only an HDMI out to be able to use the integrated 4600 graphics. This means if I want dual, triple, etc displays I would have to get an adapter. Unless I add a PCI-E card of my choosing. Which is what most who buy this awsome board would do anyways.

The board I can settle with, has VGA, DVI, and DISPLAY PORT 1.2 on the back header which would really be nice with multiple displays. However the board is less feature rich.

My main intent on running the integrated graphics is because I do not game that much, I have had failures of every single graphics card over 3 yrs old regardless of brand, and they draw a ton of power that integrated does not.

So how is the 4600 graphics?

HD 4600 graphics are good if you're not into gaming. They can run less demanding games just fine, but for even the slightly demanding games, you will have to run at low settings and also possibly turn down the resolution to 720p as well in order to get a semi-smooth frame rate.

4600 is ok for non-gaming and will support dual monitor on most boards. It rates in the low end of video cards, not mid range cards.

Looks like the intel 4600 will support triple monitor in some cases. not sure of the resolution or needed board/adapter but more here for ya.

Definitely not recommended for current gen games in my opinion. If you are into light gaming, you should seriously consider a 750ti with the board. It doesn't require a 6pin connector and draws power from the mobos PCI-e slot. Quite a viable option.

Or you could also add a HD7750 (be sure to get GDDR5). It is cheaper and also does not require a 6 pin connector, except for some rare factory overclocked versions. The 750Ti will be faster and use about the same amount of power, but is somewhat pricy at the moment.

I would carefully check the outputs of either of these however, as I have a HD 7770, and could not use it with dual monitors (both monitors were DVI and vga) witout getting a HDMI cable and adapter. Amazingly (and annoyingly to me) it did not have a vga output.
