1. I bet the 40 dollar cheaper one is only the 128-Bit 9800 pro that just came out

2. Fed Ex , for me at least, always delivered it to my house at least 24 hours before the arrival date they post on their site. Why don't you try waiting?

they're a good provider, but not a company i would use exclusively over anybody else. they tend to screw you over on shipping, especially the smaller stuff like was mentioned.

Prices tend to be low, but you can usually find as low or lower elsewhere too.

I've always made sure to order each component in a seperate order because they always charge shipping (if applicable) on each item no matter what else you order, which i think is BS.

so if they make me pay for shipping on an each stupid little item, i'm going to make sure it costs them as well.

i think if anything, they're coasting on their previous reputation, and it doesn't help that all the sheep go there now exclusively, without thinking twice.

and that's how you make it rich in america, milk the sheep.

There are tons of other places on the net that are JUST AS GOOD as newegg. And even better since Newegg is rarely the absolute lowest. I always find places cheaper and have never had a problem with anyone else. But yet the sheep here always want to trash me if I say I liked another place that was cheaper.

Quick story about an order that arrived today:

Last Thursday morning I'm browsing Newegg because I need a few parts for a couple systems I'm building for work. Now, as a silent pc nut, I'm always on the lookout for a quiet PSU, so, inexplicably, I click on the Ahanix link under power supplies to see what they have and maybe read some reviews and see if any are worth modding. Right after the 300W in the list is a 460W "SilenX" for $35 with free shipping. I'm a little skeptical, there are a lot of 460W PSUs that are junk, but I figure it's a good price for a 460W Ahanix and, even though these aren't Silenx.com Silenx PSUs, they should still be pretty good. I add it to my cart and checkout. Then I decide to go back and get a little more info and see if I want to post on the ATHD forum. I see that they are sold out. Apparently I got the only one. I then notice that it has Active PFC and it hits me that I've just got in on an obvious price mistake since no Actvie PFC PSU with 460W is gonna be much below $80...especially not one branded as silent. I contemplate cancelling the order out or principle, but because I'm curious what they'll do and because if it was me, I would want to accomodate the customer and accept the mistake I let it ride. Plus, that's my dream power supply and I really really wanted it. No update past step 2 all day. No updates Friday until the evening when it jumps to step 4 and then step 5. I got no emails about the order and the charge on my CC was the same, so I begin to wonder if they shipped me the correct PSU. Today at 3:00 PM PST Fedex drops off the package from Newegg and inside is a Retail package for a SilenX 460W with active PFC.

ANY other company, ANY, would have cancelled the order. So don't tell me other places are "just as good" as Newegg.

About half the components I buy are from Newegg. Some things like thermal paste and fans are cheaper at smaller sites and some things I like to pick out in person at Fry's, but so long as Newegg is within a few dollars of the cheapest place (which they usually are, if not the cheapest) they'll get my business because that $2 a purchase translates to a good shopping experience and because I want to them to thrive as a company and continue to be around for a long time.

Last week they dropped the restocking fee on an SATA hard drive I had bought by mistake. (I only have PATA).

Better play the lottery while your luck is holding out BTW, it's when you do have a problem that Newegg distances itself from many other on-line vendors :light:

im gonna say its definitely the prices and selection. no one can beat them in those departments. i put together a new system online for about $500. then i realized that, being in TN i would be charged sales tax. so i decided to find my components at other websites like zipzoomfly or excaliberpc. first of all, i couldnt even find all the parts i had chosen on those other sites. i could find about half of the stuff. and even if i decided to go through the trouble of ordering half the stuff that i had chosen on newegg from the combination of the other two vendors (a real pain if you ask me) i still would only save $10 off the final newegg price including tax. so im just gonna eat the $10 for the sake of convenience and go with newegg.

Never had been more impressed with their shipping services and processing time to get the item to me.
I live in Michigan and pratically get a 3-day FEDEX service for a saver price.

Only time when fedex screwed up when they delivered my motherboard to my neighbor. Good thing I knew him and went down the block to get my package.

A) they are usually in the 3 cheapest companies
B) i use the free ground hipping and it usually only takes 2 days to get to me in Valdosta Ga which is a little city in the middle of nowhere
C) EVERY order from them so far has come a day early
D) my bro's memory crapped out 6mo. after he bought it and they sent him the next level up, same brand, and he only paid shipping

last, but certainly not least:
ONCE I bought something from someone else (BZBOYZ) and not only did they send me crap parts but I paid $45 DOLLARS to get it shipped 2nd day and it didn't come for 5 DAYS! I was on customer support every day and they "promised" me every day it would get their on time or the next morning and I finally called UPS to find out BZBOYZ had shipped it standard instead of 2 day. UPS said they would get it to me that after noon (which they did at no extra cost) and I took it to BZBOYZ who refused to refund any of my money as well as the manager called me a liar over the phone. He then told me that if I put his name in the special codes box they would take 5% off the first $100 of my next order of $400 or more, that's $5 off whenI paid $45 to get it shipped to me and they sent it the same method as would have been free. Now I'm not saying that everyone will be as awful as BZBOYZ but newegg is just the best thing most anyone has ever found.

Things I like about newegg:

1. One stop shopping. 99% of the pc stuff I buy, newegg has. I like one stop shopping, any of the hassle I can remove from the shopping process, I try to do.

2. Reliable processing. I've had 15+ orders go through, not a single hitch, not once. After dealing with other vendors, you get to like that peace of mind. I can order something and *KNOW* that my order got processed and will ship without anymore communication from my end. Not only that, I'll get an email when it is processed, when it is shipped, and when they have a tracking number.

3. Good prices. Are they the cheapest? Usually not. Is it worth my time to nickle and dime and each part, ordering from multiple vendors, hell no. I bill out more in 1 hour than I can save by trying to find that absolutely best deal for each item. With a few notable exceptions, newegg generally has pretty good prices.

4. Good reputation for RMA and service after the sale. I've not had to utilize these features, but the customer reviews from those who have speak for themselves.

5. No bullshit. It is either in stock, or it isn't, at the time of my order. Very little pisses me off more than for something that was 'in stock' at the time of my order suddenly becoming 'backordered'. I decided to pay cash for a camera body at a local shop the other day, whose website said "in stock" before I left my apartment. Amazingly, they went from plenty of stock to no stock in the 10 minutes it took me to ride the subway to their shop.

Basically, it comes down to the entire shopping experience, and newegg is hard to beat for the total package, imho. I used to use mwave quite a bit too, but their pricing has been terrible the last few times I looked at stuff.

Ha, one other bit of info, newegg has advertising on the sides of nyc buses now.

if you have dealt with some crappy vendors like us-depot, you will know they are a pain to rma anything and their service imo sucks ball. I wish i shopped at newegg when newegg have the same product for the same amount or only a few bucks more which is more then worth it. but i dont like thier new policy on no refund on most refurb and some hd now that are maxtor, wd, and seagate :|

Well RAM'ed product was dropped today...and guess what....it's got problems... Radeon9800Pro gets those weird warping when playing 3D games... and goes to windows...but if you leave it at windows everyting runs fine after a while...looks like GPU or memory is messed up...oh well...RMA again...if I get a problem vidcard the 3rd time I'm getting a refund and suck up the 15% restocking fee and buy somewhere else
