I think we might have finally hit "Peak Samsung."

Their phones with either be a letdown from this point, or at the very least they won't stand above the rest of Android for the cost premium Samsung will demand. The S6 was already a letdown for a lot of people. The 6P is better than the Note 5.

Their TVs are no longer the best, that ended the moment they gave up on plasma and OLEDs. I would rather have a Vizio in most cases for the money when considering their LED tvs, way too much edge lit overpriced crap with a Samsung logo on it.

Their appliances are overpriced and often don't have features that stand above the competition for the extra cost.

Apple is moving away from them for CPUs.

Qualcomm survived a bad year still on top meaning that the most crucial component in many smartphones won't be made by Samsung.

Their payment solution should be a slam dunk (doesn't use NFC) and it's not.

Their hold on VR marketshare will slip as soon as they move away from Oculus's special sauce.

Their wearable devices get worse the deeper they get into that OS no one wants to mess with.

A year ago they were on top of the world, now the long decline begins.

I too like Visio TVs vs Samsung these days. I think Lucky-Goldstar is going to take Samsungs crown before handing it down to Some Chinese or Indian Company

S6 a letdown? Stop smoking that good shit.

The Bottom Line: Worldly looks and top-notch specs make the impressive, metal Samsung Galaxy S6 the Android phone to beat for 2015.

Four months ago I reviewed the Samsung Galaxy S6, and back then I said it was the best Android phone of 2015. Today I stand by that claim - in fact, I loved it so much I went out and bought one. Find out why in my Samsung Galaxy S6 review.

That said I think Motorola is the king of Android phones with Samsung in 2nd.

S6 a letdown?

For some people sure. Samsung was known for removable batteries and expandable storage in their phone devices, and with the S6 onward that completely went away from their lineup. Plus there is the fact that the battery life regressed from the S5 to the S6 depending on usage.

The best Android phone on the planet right now is the Nexus 6P. Last two years the statement "the best Android phone on the planet" would be followed by the name of a Samsung device (unless you were a HUGE Moto X 2013 fan). The Note 5 pen situation was a fiasco, up there with antenna gate in alltime phone gaffes. They are slipping.

Except most of the industry is moving to the non-removable battery concept and non-expandable storage.

The best android phone over the next 6 months will likely be the Droid Turbo 2:

Too bad it's Verizon only. :/

In fact, I thought the first Turbo had a better look and feel (and battery) than the S6 IMO, although the S6 kills it in processing power and lighter weight. Turbo 2 should beat out the S6 and Nexus 6P (no wireless charging = wtf?), especially since it rocks them in battery and durability (new Shattershield tech ftw) and processing power will be on par. Not to mention it will have an expandable microSD memory slot.

Sure, but that made Samsung unique. It gave Samsung an edge over a crowded market.

Now Samsung plays Apple's game, and Apple simply does it better. The iPhone 6S blows away the Galaxy S6 on everything but RAM, PPI and maybe camera. The biggest distinguishing feature of the S6 line is a $100 edge upgrade that is purely cosmetic and does nothing for the phone experience. Meanwhile other phone makers find a way to slip in SD card slots even on unibody phones.

Motorola is even more done-for in the Android enthusiast world than Samsung is. Ever since they announced that some 2014 Moto Xs and the 2015 Moto E isn't getting Android M I have watched Android journalists write off the entire company faster than it takes Apple to make a dollar. I don't know any Android journalist or podcaster that sees Moto as a top tier Android maker anymore, the Nexus 6 sucked and their fast updates are no longer a given.

The 6P will get Android 6.1 or 7.0 or whatever they will call it, while we don't know what Moto phones are getting anymore. Hell I would trust Samsung with OS updates before I would trust Moto, that is how much Lenovo ruined that company's image.

Imagine a company like Sony, but that doesn't make proprietary parts that only work in their own electronics and you have Samsung. Sony does Betamax, Memory Stick, Cell, etc. Samsung did memory, flash, ARM and AMOLED. Couple that with every appliance imaginable plus a little help from the South Korean government.
Samsung has been on the better side of tech than Sony/other Japaneese companies.
Sony ruled CRT TV tech with Trinitron, but then put its resources into a non-viable flat screen tech. Meanwhile, Samsung kept going on the established LCD. Sony attempted Cell Phone with Erickson, but Samsung correctly chose Android.

Sony's imaging division has been pushing the camera industry, especially their E mount mirrorless cameras.

Samsung are everywhere. Fridge, dishwashers, your TV, your sex toy, microwave, your phones, monitors, hard drives....can't believe Apple is a bigger company than Samsung. Seems fishy to me.

Kinda scary how much Samsung/LG dominate the Korean economy though. 25% of the countries GDP comes from those two.

"Thru hardwork, innovation and willpower" I have one of their refrigerators . It is new and very pretty . The thing is , it makes a helicopter noise(frost on fan in freezer) and the ice maker makes sounds like someone is breaking into your house which is fun . We were watching back to back wolfman movies in the dark when the copter started up , then the icemaker dumped it's melodious load . The whirlpool it replaced sits in my shop , quietly cooling and freezing things . It was changed because the water began to have a plastic taste that I couldn't fix . I usually leave my galaxy 5 edge somewhere other than on me . With it's unicorn beetle case , I find it to big .

I just started trying out some sony products recently and i've been very impressed. picked a 4K HDTV for my MIL and its pretty awesome, even the smart tv features (powered by chromecast i think).

Just picked up an RX100 Mk3 camera as well that's been extremely impressive so far. they are desperately trying to make a comeback and i think they will if they continue to put out high quality products... can't wait for the Xperia Z5 to come to the US too.

my samsung galaxy s4 has been great as well. i'm going to miss not having a replacable battery, and will be reluctant to upgrade and have to buy an external charger.
