How is the graphic on this nVidia video card?

I 'm looking for an inexpensive video card for my latest home-built. Is this a good card?

I don't play any video games, so frame rate and such are important, but I am looking for sharp text and graphic. Reasonably high refresh rate at high resolution. My current card is a Matrox MGA-G200 8 MB AGP.

How is the quality of the text and graphic of this nVidia card? Or is there a better card currently out there?

You could look for a newer Matrox (they're generally accepted to have the best 2D quality) or I'd probably pick up an ATI card (generally accepted to have the second best 2D).

I have to agree,you`re better going for a Matrox G550 card,cheap price wise and excellent image quality(Matrox are king in this field).

Btw if you give us your maximum price range we can help you with the ideal choice for your budget.

I really don't know what I want or need to spend. Guess I'm looking for the best performance to price ratio.

You could even get a lower end ATI Radeon.. it would do a good job for you too, IMO. I've been happy with the image quality from ATI's I've owned lately! I am using a Radeon 7000 at work (CHEAP card) and it's 2d quality is perfect, as far as i can tell.

I will look into the ATI Radeon also. I take it that I should only look at the one made by ATI, and not those with just the ATI chips?

I can tell you the G550 has 2D about as perfect as you could want. I just went to an ATI 9000 Pro (by Sapphire) and its just as good. Check the pricing - I found the 7000-9000 Radeons were all within about $5 of each other.

A little tidbit for you about the BBAti cards... they're actually still built by Sapphire, they just get stress-tested and whatnot at ATI. ATI builds very little aside from reference boards. And DO NOT buy that vid card, mad dog is the crappiest mfgr in history. It took a little over 2 months just to get them to respond to a warranty request on my sis's cd-burner made by them.
