Hoping to at least be able to play future games like Watch Dogs and stuff like that.

I already have mouse, keyboard, and monitor.

I still need an O.S but that is on top of the $600.

That's a lot of good deals, and the GTX 760 is worlds better than a GTX 650 Ti. The TR2 isn't the world's greatest PSU, but it is serviceable for a budget machine.

I bet your monitor is some old 1024x768 res CRT and you have no intention of overclocking.

Hey there!

I changed it up and was wondering if you can give your opinion on some of my changes.

Are you plannign on overclocking? Because an i3 will outperform the FX-6X00 series in many games. Also, your resolution has an impact on how much any of this matters.

Does that build also go way over your budget?

I am going to expand on the budget since I want it to last in both lifespan and futureproofing. Originally the budget did not include the O.S.

Are you planning to overclock?

What is your monitor's resolution?

I'd almost be tempted to say get a Haswell i5 and not an SSD, on the basis that upgrading to an SSD later on is easier and cheaper than upgrading the CPU and mobo.

Not a bad idea at all. For gaming, the SSD is just a luxury.

You should definitely take that Asus board over the ASRock board.

The reason being that despite the name the ASRock board uses the ancient 760G chipset (2007 tech). This means it relies on a 3rd party controller for SATA3 (Asmedia 1061). It also can not handle more then 95W rated FX CPUs. This should not be an issue if you don't intend to overclock however. Its just something to keep in mind, and with that cooler, the 6300 is almost begging for a slight overclock...

BTW, you might be able to find the LE version of the M5A97 R2.0 a little cheaper. It has a few less features, but you don't loose anything important.

Just going to add to the chorus. Nothing wrong with an SSD, but you can always add an SSD, later. For the same cost, you could move up to an Intel Core i5, which would help much more.

Forget the SSD for now. Does very little if anything for games. Money better spent on GPU and CPU.

Alright I took out the SSD since I am planning on taking out my laptop's SSD and putting it on this one.

What do you think I should improve on?

That's $650, and the one above it is $800. Can you do $800, or not? Also, when you say you'll move your laptop's SSD, does that mean you won't need storage bought for the build?

The current CPU+mobo+cooler is $225. A Core i5 would remove overclocking, effectively, but there are only a handful of games where you might be able to overclock the FX-6300 to get into the same performance territory, so it would make a lot of sense to go that way, if possible.

For $800, with salvaged primary storage, I worked your morning build into this:

Took advantage of assuming $800 was workable, and chose a nicer case, as well as adding an ODD. A bit better mobo, in terms of slots and ports, might fit, too, but I was trying to stretch things as much as I could, to work in the i5-4570.
