I'm sure prices vary. In Alaska, especially. Last time I went to Toxic Hell, the generic soft taco was $1.29. I'm pretty sure they're not that expensive down south.

Another example of franchise price variation is seen in KFC. One location sells the medium sized popcorn chicken for 4.99; the store 5 miles away charges 5.99.

Prices can and do vary from location to location. Try getting some McD's at a sports arena, airport (as already mentioned) or other special venue where you are generally a captive audience.

You generally don't see much variation in the big chains like McDonalds for one of two reasons. 1. All area stores are owned by the same entity and has strict pricing policy covering all stores in the area. 2. People notice stuff like that. Usually there's another McD's not too far away that they'll go to preferentially over the expensive location. Expensive location drops prices, or suffers from crappy sales. Higher prices ends up earning less money.


Scan your 'friends' pay stub. Otherwise shens on the deductions. Sounds a bit far fetched.

From 2002-2005 there was a boycott @ Taco Bell, because they were using illegal workers to pick tomatoes, thus saving money... The rumor was that to combat this tomato boycott, workers would be docked pay for every order someone ordered an item minus hold the tomatoes...so the cashiers would push tomato sales...


I read about this crap over 2 years ago... it was confirmed to be a myth!!!!

Sorry, but this is definitely shens. Pretty bad too; I haven't seen too many or spent too much time on here but I know a crappy shens when I see it, and this one not only sucks, but it swallows too.

Wow, I call shens and 100% illegal. Thsoe costs are consider a part of doing business. You can't ignore downside risk and when downside ocurs, punish your employees. This is 100% illegal.

It's the same way for almost ALL fast food chains. They are franchises, they can charge whatever the fsck they want.

Sure the franchise can charge whatever they want, but the managers of the store most certainly do not own the franchise and therefor don't set the prices. Perhaps the district manager could, but I would doubt that even the store manager can change the price of an item without permission.

those .99 nachos are yummy, sometimes they are skimpy, but still worth a buck. I doubt they are getting deductions because of this, it doesn't even make any sense, if they don't put tomatoes on then they don't put tomatoes on, if they have to throw the "extra" away then it doesn't really matter if it went on their tacos or in the garbage...
