How is Ti4200 on noise

Obviously with a fan, there is going to be some noise, but I have read some reviews, like for Chaintech, that say that noise is a serious problem on the Ti4200. Any other experiences out there? These are the refurb models on egghead i am choosing from:

If it's too noisy, I'll just go with the R9200Pro wich has no fan and is 30%+ cheaper

Darn, that's the most expsensive one one the list - almost to the point where I would be better off with the 9600Pro.

The Abit's are going for $65, a deal if the noise is acceptable

I have an ABIT siluro gf4 ti4200 128mb video card. Its fan emits a high pitched whine that I cannot stand any longer. The card has been good for me, but this week its been starting to crap out. And the high pitch fan is about to drive me nuts. time for a x800pro =)

So though its a decent performer, I cannot recommend it if you are concerned with noise.

btw, my siluro is 4x

Why not just buy a Radeon 9600 (Non-Pro) that comes fanless natively? Compareable performance, better in newer games, and a crapload better than a 9200.

There's also a OEM fanless gF4 Ti4200 128MB clocked at 225/444 - search for Gateway part number "6002247" on eBay, it's an MSI or Visiontek OEM board.

ive had this one, and it was quiet for me. at least, i couldnt hear it over my sk-6 with an 80mm fan.

asus is loud (it also emits the high pitched whine). msi ti4200 is louder last time i checked. looks like they're all going to be loud. a quiet 4200 would be a asus V9280 VideoSuite. they got a different fan/heatsink package but be aware... the fan is screwed onto the heatsinkand has a tedency to fail as 3 of mine already have and RMA'd 3 times. replaced it with a aftermarket cooler now of course.

The VisionTek 4200 in my kid's computer isn't lound. You're not going to find too many of them anymore.
