Edit - The Dark Grey seems to darken it a little, but its still painful at times.

50 is uber bright. I think I have mine at 25 or so. It can be a bit dark in some multiplayer FPS games but I usually just crank the brightness in said games up a bit so I can see the other players. For desktop I find 25-30 is good.

mine is set at 35...fine enough for me.

tried out nfs most wanted/carbon (stupid ea of course doesnt put widescreen in those games), hl2 episode one, projec64 (ran nicely at 1920x1200 8xAA/16xAF), and now im installing fear.

oh, and i successfully tried out my nintendo wii with the official nintendo component cables. just plugged the cables in without any adjusting in the menu. looks fine at 480p, and with 480i it looks terrible (as expected). just waiting to get a female/female rca to male adapter for sound.

Power off monitor
Press menu button and "+" button (and hold them) while powering on the monitor
Release menu button and "+" button once the monitor's green LED is lit

Now press "-" button to enter the service menu.

Of course you should change settings in the monitor's menu to your liking. That's the point of all those adjustable items in the menu. If you get an A04, you're all set unless you have dead pixels or some other panel defect.

It's a great monitor. I got my A04 back in March so your 2407 should be an A04 as well.

Ditto on all that. I received my A04 roughly 6 weeks ago and it was perfect. No dead pixels, no damage in shipping, etc.

I was very curious about which panel I got as well; due to all the things I'd read in various forums about "Oh, you got THAT panel...so sorry for you" etc.

I went into the service menu and there's two large alphanumeric strings at the top of the menu that really don't mean much. It's not like it says "Samsung 123XYZ Panel" or something. I even posted the codes on this forum...don't think anyone knew anything about them.

Anyway, I've had no probs at all with it. And it's simply The Best Monitor Ever...in my humble opinion, of course.

ps
If you're playing a newer type game, unless you have a monster video card (i.e. 8800 series) be prepared to lower your game texture and detail settings. 19x12 is a LOT of pixels to make move.

Got mines in early April. Loving it.

Only annoyances are the brightness and color shifting. I've got my brightness set at ~10 and further reduced through the Nvidia control panel to ~85. Gets a bit hard to stare at once it gets dark cause it's facing a window and the ceiling lights aren't doing a very good job illuminating cloth. Only times color shifting has bothered me a lot is playing Oblivion (yay for electricity), going through dungeons. Oh, and I've got one stuck pixel in the corner, but have completely forgotten about it now. Only times I notice it is when I remind myself theres a dot there.

Performance wise, I'm running stuff at 1680x1050, which is scaled very well. Gotta turn down a few details, but it's well worth it to get such a wide view.

if you ordered one recently ure def getting the A04 unless dell decides to screw u over.. but ive had mine since dec last year and its running great.. sometimes if its cool the backlight wont be even but in like 5 mins the panel will heat up to its normal temp and the backlight will be even again ... that the ONLY problem ive had with it.
