Of course you should change settings in the monitor's menu to your liking. That's the point of all those adjustable items in the menu. If you get an A04, you're all set unless you have dead pixels or some other panel defect.
It's a great monitor. I got my A04 back in March so your 2407 should be an A04 as well.
Ditto on all that. I received my A04 roughly 6 weeks ago and it was perfect. No dead pixels, no damage in shipping, etc.
I was very curious about which panel I got as well; due to all the things I'd read in various forums about "Oh, you got THAT panel...so sorry for you" etc.
I went into the service menu and there's two large alphanumeric strings at the top of the menu that really don't mean much. It's not like it says "Samsung 123XYZ Panel" or something. I even posted the codes on this forum...don't think anyone knew anything about them.
Anyway, I've had no probs at all with it. And it's simply The Best Monitor Ever...in my humble opinion, of course.
ps
If you're playing a newer type game, unless you have a monster video card (i.e. 8800 series) be prepared to lower your game texture and detail settings. 19x12 is a LOT of pixels to make move.
