2 here. All good. Growing pains in one business and supply issues in second.

Business as usual.

Anecdotally. Have a talk to all your employees about the ramifications of the Uniform trade secrets acts when they get hired to protect yourself from lititgation.

Friends hired a guy recently who brought along a few lawsuits....

I had a small computer repair/website design business when I was in high school. I got too busy in college to continue with it. Technically I'm still licensed and I could still operate if I wanted to. I cancelled my vendor's permit though so I'd have to get that back but the actual business license lasts forever or until it's cancelled, at least I think.

With all the spare time I get with my new job, I've been debating on some kind of business or online venture of some sort. The tricky part is coming up with something that is not a conflict of interest with my company. They are kinda strict about that. Well not so much strict as in they enforce it, but strict as in lot of things count. Even though our company does not do web design, I cannot run a web design company, for example. Hosting is completely out of the question as we do offer hosting. There's some people who do it anyway though, so I've thought of just taking the chance and just keeping it low profile, but probably best to think of something else.

I need to code hosting software if I want to host anything, so I may at least code that, and turn that project into a business. Like offer commercial support and stuff.

I have a startup idea, but no monies
ATOT millionaires to the rescue. Spill it.

The loan office great, 7 years this July.
The daycare, over twice the start up budget, over twice as long to get open, sucking me dry since 2/15 and not in a good way.

It was a "Jump to Conclusions" mat. You see, it would be this mat that you would put on the floor... and would have different CONCLUSIONS written on it that you could JUMP TO.

Not a startup, but every year has been better than the last, and we passed the all time best for the business 4 years ago.

What ever happened to that guy who was trying to make the next social network? Has his dreams been crushed yet?

I used to do some consulting on the side and am going to be doing some more soon. In other news, I noticed that I can make cables really cheaply and quickly and sell them at a huge markup while still being the cheapest on the market. I think I'll give that a go on eBay and see what happens. I won't get rich but it would supplement my toy fund, which is now going towards RC EDF jets.

Silian Rail lettering on Bone?

It's an all classic font. I actually found some alignment issues, but they don't allow you to correct it after you placed the order, so I'll have to be more careful when I order my next batch.

I'm normally not one to promote a business by doing this, and I don't think anybody will need my services from AT, but feel free to check out my site @ http://www.facebook.com/HireAGeekConsulting - it has my business card on there, at least the front side. It's pretty sharp looking if you ask me. "Like" it and I'll add you as a friend here on AT (send me a PM here if you do Like it). AT has had a big part in my IT knowledge so I think it's only fitting to give everybody who has been helpful here along the years credit for my knowledge as well.

I was going to buy the domain, but I'm going to wait to build a customer base. There also looks to be a business with a similar, but not identical name out in CA. So if I get issues by that, I may have to change my name yet again, unfortunately. A lot of things are still up in the air right now. I'm trying to get 30 likes on FB as then you get Insights into business activity, so I could really use some people hitting Like on my page even if you won't ever use my services. I don't plan to spam the page, I probably won't even post once a month with tech updates or changes in pricing for the business.

It's free to get listed, you just go to business.angieslist.com but you have to pay to get first page placement which I do. The cost will depend on the area. A word of warning though. You should check your competition prior and you should not expect the faucet to turn on immediately. You won't start seeing steady action until you have about 30ish reviews so the best thing to do is get listed and have some of your past customers leave reviews for you. You should also consider running some type of coupon to get your name out there and build more reviews. What area do you service?

Do you add your business to that site, or do customers? I've never used Angie's, just Craigslist.

Pretty much everything IT with the exception of programming (which I can do and have experience with, but just don't want to), web design, or DBA type work. I have contacts for all of those though, so I'll just refer people to them if need be.

I want to target local businesses, but it looks like going to businesses and "soliciting" is frowned upon unlike going house to house which is okay, so targetting businesses is my main issue right now.

Yeah something like that, but without the $1000+ price tag or extra monthly fee(if leasing a server). Would have lot of stuff automated too and I'm hoping to add redundancy some way or the other using file system replication or what not but that would maybe come later. Lot of stuff would be automated and everything would be built in such as the ticketing system and monitoring.

If you build it they will come.

I ate ramen and didnt go out for 2 years while saving for my seed money.

No sympathy for lazy.

Fortune favors the bold.

Trust me, not lazy, just no money. Already working full time and a part time job to pay off existing student loans.
