the dude was 19. Old enough.
He passed background checks, was 19, in this country he is an adult. Sure, he can't rent a car, or buy alcohol, but he can apparently riddle other people full of bullets that he legally acquired.
Wait, still too soon?
President Donald Trump quietly signed a bill into law Tuesday rolling back an Obama-era regulation that made it harder for people with mental illnesses to purchase a gun.
It was an on topic suggestion for a viable compromise and school shootings. If you want to posture and expound on what you want, have at it.
Here's a couple of reasonable compromises from a pro-gun person.
It's time we made it mandatory that all mental health professionals report violence prone patients to the FBI database for background checks. We can also change the law that the age requirement for semi-auto rifles is raised to 21 nationwide.
and accurate, a three-fer.Ignorant AND arrogant.
Nice two-fer, Tajji.
It wasn't until 1987 that homosexuality was taken off the "mental disorder list" by psychiatrists. Crazy isn't really the issue, it's violent that is the issue. The morons fighting those kinds of ideas are just going to end up losing all rights to bear arms when the pendulum ends up swinging to the other extreme. I do not understand why the NRA is against any kind of law restricting or making it harder for crazy people buying guns.
They want one. That's all that is required in this country under our Constitution. It is not easy to identify crazy people or define crazyness. There are crazy people in every community, and all those crazy people are not going to kill others either. But how would you explain the need for an ordinary citizen, whether crazy or not, to own an automatic (or even semi automatic) weapon?
Why wouldn't you want to own surface to air missiles to defend an alien attack from the sky? They want one. That's all that is required in this country under our Constitution.
Except... he should never have been allowed to buy guns until some bill was immediately rolled back two weeks after...
Probably for those chanting MAGA.

Because the fire control radar interferes with my satellite tv reception and my HOA says no fireworks. Why wouldn't you want to own surface to air missiles to defend an alien attack from the sky?
This is a pretty disgusting path to walk.He was not living under a bridge. The adults who let him move in allowed him to bring his aresenal of weapons and ammo, knowing his history snd they were even planning on sending him to a shrink.
All they had to do is lay down the law, you can come in but weapons have to be disposed. They chose to take the path of least resistance.
Great idea, just as Nikolas Cruz gets a government supplied defense lawyer, citizens should get a government supplied firearm at 21.I am for everyone having guns. Everyone... every new born child gets a Graphene-infused Kolibri-knock off. Then, it steps up to eventually everyone by the age of 35 receives a GATLING GUN! At 50 flamethrowers... then at age 75, maybe grenade launchers... who knows. Let them sort it themselves!
The purchase of a weapon is 18 or 21. The ownership in some states has no minimum age. The actual state laws preventing ownership is against the constitutions by the way, jfyi. The 2nd amendment prevents any prevention and all denial of bearing arms; Federal, State, and Local.Great idea, just as Nikolas Cruz gets a government supplied defense lawyer, citizens should get a government supplied firearm at 21.
How about when they get a drivers license or register to vote?
No taxpayer money. Applicants will pay the money. It won't cost much more then a physical exam. How much will that cost and are you ok with paying more taxes to support these actions?
That won’t fly in NRA land, equivalent to poll tax will be their claim. No taxpayer money. Applicants will pay the money. It won't cost much more then a physical exam.
I've always been leery of a National Gun Registration which is just a future road map for confiscation, especially if you standardize all transfers/purchases/resales and record them. My kneejerk reaction is no, but i'd like to see it discussed in more detail by experts. Times are changing, the world isn't the same as it was when I was a kid.Would you support standardizing the processes/requirements and restrictions for gun purchases and resales at a Federal level, with national gun registration, along with a concession to allow "constitutional carry"? If we can standardize the rules across all 50 states, there would be no need to restrict concealed carry.
You did see the thread about a $17,850.00 urine test here in the forum? Yeah, not acceptable. No taxpayer money. Applicants will pay the money. It won't cost much more then a physical exam.
How about this. Reverse budget cuts for mental health. Roll in mental health exam into the ACA. It would be covered yearly along with annual physical. It would be covered at no OOP costs.how about a national voter id? and mental evaluation? paid for by the voter of course
