I just got this in an email:

Please advise of the following

XXXXXX - this is for an initial assigned March 13th - report is now DUE (30 days from referral) - Please advise.

You were also assigned an internal service request from [name] to do a 4 week JSTP at the office - Please advise as to how this is going and what has been accomplished thus far.

You were assigned a new referral on April 9th - please advise whether you've connected with the referral source and claimant to start services?

I haven't started anything on any of the three things I'm being asked about...

Are you going to?

I haven't done a thing in about 3 weeks. Why start now?

Respond with: "Those assignments have been completed. they were sent out last week (provide fake date). did you not receive them?"

wait for counter-response. stall some more. try to drag it out for another week.

continue to drink in office.

obtain one of those large, multi-partition folders. arrange random papers within said partitions. Hand this in as your completed assignment.

I thought you had to be laid-off to collect unemployment, no?

I haven't been here long enough to collect unemployment. If (when) I get fired, I'm SOL.

Actually, I think I need to be laid off to collect unemployment.

I hope that if I ever have my own business, I'll have enough sense to keep better track of what's going on.

That said, I'm pretty much a horrible human being by doing this. I'm actually just thinking of telling my boss how I feel and quitting at the end of the week.

Drag it out as long as you can. I find it interesting.
However, if I had a co-worker doing this, I'd be pissed as hell.

These reports you handed in, it's almost as if you have no business training at all! I don't know what this is supposed to be...

Tell them you are behind because you were sick last week and need more time.

No argument there. Why you are taking some kind of sick pride in this is beyond me. You are burning bridges with this company, and everybody at that company who works with you. Anybody there who hears your name in the future will probably make damn sure you never get hired for any company they are currently working for, and you'll be surprised how profound that can be.

And you say you'll keep better track of whats going on if you own your own business? When you own a company, you want, and pay for people who dont need to be micromanaged like a fucking child to make sure they are doing what they are supposed to do. You are violating a trust that company holds in you, and pays you for, and I hope they spread the word so far you'll have to move across state lines to escape the repulation you are rightfully earning.

"I have no choice but to fire you"
"I don't even work here"
"That's what makes this so difficult"

yeah, we're mixing episodes/characters, but who cares?

He's living out his office space dream. Can't hate him for that. I am, in fact, quite envious.

You would be a god if you could devise a way to embezzle fractions of a cent from each transaction that's processed...

Or if you steal a printer.

Well thankfully the company is based out of a province that I don't live in, and I'm in an industry I don't plan to continue working in.

It's just me and my secretary here, and she probably loves that I allow her to have so much free time! We get along quite well.

And you don't have to micromanage people to realize that no work has been completed in over 3 weeks. The work I do is sent in on my time sheet as billable time. My billable time has been 8.7 hours since I started the job on Feb. 25. 0.0 hours over the last 3 weeks.

This thread is funny, yet at the same time it is really sad. The op is self-inflicting punishment for a job he doesn't enjoy yet the issue is his own short sightedness. In other words, you've got a good thing and you're ruining it. Let's say they are only giving you 1 hour of work a day. Right now the only thing you can think of is to fill those 7 extra hours browsing ATOT and maybe some other retarded webpages. You could however, be taking training or going to school part time and using this extra time for homework. You could be researching subjects that you needed to understand, maybe some home renovation topics. Perhaps your workspace has a gym or maybe you could do some moderate workouts at some point during your day to take up some of that time. You could read a book and educate yourself. You could learn a language. There are tons of things you could do with the extra 7 hours, which in reality is a perk, that you've instead CHOSEN to turn into a curse. The problem is you. And because the problem is you, it does not surprise me that you are willfully eliminating yourself from a good job. Maybe next time you will find a job that fills 8 hours of your day with a ton of work that will never once matter in the course of your life.

If you're honestly unhappy with your job then you should quit and find another. If you do care about your job and are just doing this as an experiment, then it is kinda funny. Don't be a wimp and go for one more week, Vegas odds have it 3:1 you'll still have a job but maybe a second "reprimand"!
