Not at all, my beard is full and hair just as tough as yours.
The secret to getting up to 100 shaves from a single blade is to make sure your beard is properly softened. It takes time - about 15 minutes of continuous soaking (which is why I shave in the shower at the end of the shower). Shaving creme is NO shortcut.
In the old days a man would go into the barber shop, hot moist towels applied for at least 10 minutes and then lather and shave. There are no shortcuts.
Unless your beard is really soft it's just like cutting dry wood - even with shaving cream which just makes it smoother - two or three shaves from a blade are normal (that's what I used to get).
