Much of the hormonal/emotional turmoil associated with myalgic encephalomyelitis (chronic fatigue syndrome) mirrors PMS, with resulting water retention, hot flashes, instant rages and other mood swings. I still get those way too often but they only last for a couple of days each time. However, as with most ME patients, I experienced one long-term morbid phase and during that time, in the mid 80s, I basically had nonstop severe PMS for nearly a year. It killed my marriage and cost me some friends.
