When you call Logitech for a replacement, they'll ask you for the numbers on the bottom of your mouse to determine if it's still under warranty. For wireless mice, they've asked me to send them the USB receiver of the defective mouse and once they received that, they sent me a NIB replacement. I've also used the warranty on an old MX510 and I didn't have to send them anything. They sent me a MX518 just like that. All they needed from me were those numbers on the bottom of the mouse.

Here's the warranty page for their mice:

I recently RMA'd a G7. The warranty is 3 yrs so you're still covered. Just call them and they go through a quick troubleshooting script, make sure you have setpoint installed. Then they will give you the option of getting a G9 or an MX Revolution. I got the G9 and love it and I don't really miss having wireless, especially the changing batteries part. If you don't game though, get the MX. They made me send back the USB receiver dongle which sucks though. I wanted a backup mouse

i recently had an original (no thumb button) G5 mouse replaced at the end of 2007 due to an unresponsive right-click. i think that mouse carries a 3 year warranty, however logitech still asked me to fax in a copy of the purchase receipt before i could get a replacement. i thought the request was sort of stupid because the mouse was introduced less than 3 years ago so there's no way the device could have exceeded the warranty period.

I've replaced a number of things through Logitech over the years.

I think the total now is like 4 keyboard/mouse combos, a USB headset and a speaker set.

9 times out of 10 they will only ask you for your serial number. Sometimes the rep will walk me through some troubleshooting techniques (hey whatever, they're just doing their job...most of the time I just explain to them politely that I'm a very knowledgeable PC user and I have tried all the common solutions and have even gone through some browsing sessions to look for common solutions and troubleshooting techniques)

@Vex -

I have replaced 2 KB/Mouse combos through them where they have requested my sales slip. It's my belief that they only do this with outdated or discontinued hardware due to the fact there's always people out there looking to get stuff for free (i.e. a free upgrade when the current hardware is not capable of warranty replacement) Every item I have ever replaced through Logitech that wasn't discontinued has been replaced in timely fashion with new merchandise (no refurbs) without any questions asked other than the serial number. The only item I have ever had to ship back was the USB headset because the problems with it were pretty small and honestly I doubt other manufacturers would give me less of a hassle about returning it if they even let me return it at all (mute button light burnt out and due to the location of the mute button, this really was annoying to me). Even then, they shipped the replacement first and just had me hand off the box to the UPS guy, all postage paid for by them.

Warranty replacement and service is definitely IMO one of Logitech's strong points.

Well then the part is out of stock or unavailable ATM. All I see right now for the G7 is the battery.

If you still have the original receiver for your G7, you could enter it in the search box for part numbers or you could call up Logitech and ask?

I just called in to Logitech to get warranty service for my defective VX Revolution. The rep told me to fax in my receipt and I politely asked if I could email it to him since it was bought from Amazon and he was like no, go to kinkos.. wtf? You would think emailing it would be more convenient for both of us. Anyways I will try another rep later. I just wanted to find out from you guys about how long did it take to receive your new mouse. If it takes too long or they want to be an ass about the whole fax thing I will just ask them for a refund. Also because Im pissed that my old MX500 worked for years and still to this day but the revolution broke in under 6 months.

IME Logitech support has always been a shining example of how things should be done ... never a bit of hassle with a warranty replacement, including them sending me a brand-new MX518 to replace an out-of-warranty MX510 ... somthing they obviously had no obligation to do!

I'm not loyal to many companies anymore, but Logitech is on my short list.

Just today my MX518 started acting up, the right click wouldn't stay pressed and now it requires like 2-3 clicks for the command to kick in.

I sent them a question asking about warranty though I'll probably won't get an answer till Monday, hopefully they won't require me to give them receipt/order confirmation since I don't have any.

Wow Logitech's support is pretty amazing, they were incredibly quick to respond and extremely clear, they did need me to show them a receipt (which thankfully I did find) but the warranty went through perfectly fine, no hassle and I don't have to send them my old mouse so I should be expecting a new mouse anyone of these days, I guess the warranty got validated quicker because this right-click issue seems to be a widespread thing with MX518's.

I'll definitely be buying more Logitech products in the future.

Why would they give you another mouse if they still make the G7? I've never heard of them asking for the dongle either, they usually just want the PID number from the bottom of the mouse and a faxed copy of the receipt.

Right-click problem with my MX518. Don't have the receipt but they said they'd still replace it if I send in the original mouse. Fair enough IMO. I'll probably respond tomorrow when I get home.

Awesome, I didn't know they sold more batteries for the G7 on their site. I may need that in a year or two.

I had to fax a copy of my receipt for a defective G5 as well. Really quick turnaround.

MS has an excellent replacement dept. for KB/Mouse also.

The middle click on my MX1000 started to act up recently. I called up Logitech and once they received my busted MX1000, they sent me a shiny new MX Revolution. I spent a grand total of 25 seconds on hold and 3 minutes talking to support. Thanks Logitech.

Just thought I'd bump this to say that I'm getting a brand new G5 rev. 2 since my first revision G5 has been acting up lately.

No return required, not even an original proof of purchase! Logitech customer support rocks.

Right click on mx510 stopped working, lived with it for about 5 months, then saw this thread. Discovered I bought at Newegg in Oct. 05, so I called Logitech and they had me fax a copy of purchase receipt ( good thing I bought from the Egg, otherwise I wouldn't have had the receipt!) and now a new mx518 is on the way. Much gratitude to all here.
Now I gotta go and see if I can find and stow the receipt for that mx3200 set I bought last month from Buy.Com...

I rather have that problem then having my mouse start having random freezing. A lot more annoying when doing anything.
