Work is about 10 minutes away by foot and almost the same by car.

50 miles one way on the 405, 50min-2hr depending on traffic, worst day so far: 3.5 hrs or so.

You misread it. The "slash" indicates that you could give me a commute to work, or to school, or to your SO, whichever one is applicable.

If all 3 apply, you could, oh I don't know, pick one?

20-25 minutes walk to class. Could take a free bus/shuttle, but I prefer the walk.

Depends on how I hit the lights, and traffic. I can usually leave at 8:40 and make it to campus before the start of a 9:05 class; about 10 minutes of that is walking from the car to the classroom. I guess it's usually about 10 minutes.

Back home, the drive was at least 30 minutes to get damn near anywhere.
Now I'm fairly close to the city, and I'm all spoiled. There's a small shopping district just 2 miles away, and I have to cross the road it's on to get to and from class; makes for convenient stops when I need to get groceries.
I'm also quite close to Lake Erie - close enough that I don't get slammed by the heavy snowfall in the snow belts just a few miles south. Just 10 miles can be the difference between 2" of snow and 16".

I am from Fargo, ND, and lots of people would commute from the Minnesota lakes country which is 45+ miles away. Of course MINN lakes country is fantastic and i would do it too if i had a similar opportunity.

basically i can see a long commute if you live somewhere really awesome, suburbs do not apply.

also i think if i had to travel more than 30 minutes to see my SO, i would no longer have that SO. Seriosuly i don't have the patience or :effort; for something like that

Depends on the traffic. Its usually quicker in the morning, roughly 30 to 40 minutes. Its closer to an hour in the evening though heading home from work. And it gets worse every minute after my normal quitting time.

5 to 7 minutes walking distance. I live and work right in my city. Good thing too because I don't own a car nor do I have a place to park it if I did.

35 miles each way

1/2 on Thruway at 75 mph
1/2 on local roads, mostly 62mph, four traffic signals

Leave at 5:15 AM, stop for coffee, arrive office 6AM
Leave office at 4PM, no coffee stop, more traffic, home at 5PM.

Way longer times on snow days.

I'm at about 15-20 minutes each way depending on stop lights.

I'm thinking about making a jump to where I'd be commuting 40-45 miles each way. I'd have to be at work at 6am so I'd miss traffic, and leave at 3pm and hopefully miss the majority of traffic there as well.
