Almost always 40. I sometimes work extra on certain days, but I end up with comp time during the pay period. I also go to school, so if that counts, add in 6-15 credit hours per semester.

I'm spending almost 15 hours per week commuting mysel. Kind of annoying, but at least my employer reimburses my train pass.

Always 40 hours, which is pretty normal for in studio radio/television. I'd only have to do OT if one of the weekend girls is sick and the on-call can't make it in. Which happens very rarely.

In my last job I was doing between 44 and 48hrs a week. 3 out of 5 days were 10.5hr shifts. Plus I had a part time job working at a cable access station to get experience. So it was closer to 52 hours a week or more. Needless to say the pay wasn't worth doing all those hours. I'd be doing 14-16hrs between a day the two jobs at times.

Why do some of you salaried folks work more than 40? Is your salary based on a longer work week? Do you get a big bonus For it? I've never understood people that consistently work unpaid overtime. Sure, put in some extra time in a crunch, but why do it every week?

Because we have to sometimes. If you wrote the code or support an application that business pulls out of their ass to elevate for no reason, you can't really say no. I have been at my company about 2 years now and I notice everyone tries to screw me with the on call and late shifts. That and people complain to your manager if you leave around 4pm. I usually get here at 730am so I can leave around 430 and I eat at my desk.

Well, I used to work extra every week when I was young and naive, but when I saw that the only thing it got me was more work, I stopped. I'm a 40 hour per week employee now except for when we're on crunch time for a project.

For some reason, people think it is a badge of honor to work more than 40 hours per week. It isn't -- outside of crunch time and a few select professions, if you're regularly working over 40 hours and not being compensated for it, it is time to find a new job.

Yeah project teams have it easy. They put me in prod support plus development which is basically a black hole of never ending work. My buddies in other buildings usually leave as early as they can. Bonuses and raises can be nice but with the new tax laws I got a higher raise but I'm not making anyhing extra its actually less lol. I figure I'll stick around because it's very stable but who knows. That and you see other members work more than 40 hours and you don't want to look bad.

Fail poll. Missing a 40-50 option. Also it fails because what if you work exactly 30 hours, or exactly 40? Options should be 10 or less, 11-20, 21-30, 31-40, 41-50, 51-60, etc.
