parallel is still around despite usb's existence.
irq system is still in effect.
people still use modems despite the availability of dsl and cable for the same price.
you can still buy edo ram.
monochrome monitors are still available.
windows 3.1 is still around
windows me still has dos in it.
ide is still around.

point is, computers change so quickly that old crap will always be around.

The price of SDRam is dropping. Is there an end for the price drop??
If there is, what is the right time to get SDRam as it is still dropping.
Should wait or not?

Thanks for your replies

SDram will go up in price during christmas time, ddr ram will come out but it won't drop the price of regular sdram because its still popular, just look at the price of edo, its crap but prices are still high, I would of thought with sdram it be cheap as heck, but its not.

SDRAM will NEVER disappear considering how widely it is used in the embedded world. SDRAM gives imbedded designers, like me, the most ram for the best price with the easiest controller to design. Generic SDRAM controllers are easy to design...even with refresh built in.

The same goes for SRAM....we still use it...quite widely for level 2 cache might I add.

The prices might go up, but nothing significant

EDO is expensive because they don't make much of it anymore. SDRAM is cheaper simply because there is a ton of it around. Just thought I'd clarify why EDO is so expensive. SDRAM should be around for awhile, there are lots of motherboards that need it, and it's just great memory. Maybe in a year DDR will cost less than SDR, but SDRAM won't dissapear anytime real soon.

Yeah I'd agree with Navi after reading the rest of the thread.
