How loud is TOO loud?

OK, so i'm at a stop light the other day and this guy stops behind me, the usual normal distance nothing unusual EXCEPT, he's got his music SOOOO Loud that MY ears start to HURT. The bass was SOOO strong. and i had my windows all shut and the AC on. I had to wonder tho what he was doing to his own ears listening to it that loud.

SO:

1. How loud do you listen to your music?

2. IF you listen to your music as loud as this guy behind me did, do you enjoy it?

3. Is there such a thing as noise pollution? I mean if i were a cop and i heard music that loud coming from a car, i'd give them a ticket for noise pollution.

When the bass effects you a car away, it's too loud for him, but he just wants to look cool... which he doesn't. He thinks the stares he's getting is because of his phatty system when in fact people are actually pointing and laughing, without the pointing and laughing.

Noise Pollution = affirmatory. can be arrested for disturbing the peace.

Too loud is when it distorts, you ears bleed, or people 8 blocks away can make out the words of the song or when the earth quakes in time with the bassline

i usually dont turn the volume up much because my ears are irritated easily

after taking my grandfather to ear doctor a many times to get his hearing aid adjusted, i've realized how much i want to take care of my hearing.

is it getting too old to say, well if i do this i will permanently damage myself so i won't do it? shoot, if that's being too old i've been too old all my life.

face it, a lot of kids listen to their music wayyy to loud and it does affect their hearing. it damages their eardrums and leaves them effectively deaf at certain frequencies. what is soo cool or good about that?

offending car is next to you with the windows down:

lay on your horn non-stop until the dude turns it down.
repeat if he starts it up again.

it IS against the law where we live.

I had some fvcktard playing some rap crap in the parking lot near here. I went over and asked if it was his car making all the racket. He said, "That's not a racket!" I told him to shut it off. He started to argue, but I just made a cut throat hand sign and repeated that he shut it off, and left. 15 seconds later it was off. I'd have simply call the cops if he hadn't. They'd have been there in a short minute and that fvcktard knew it.

anyway, yes. too bad most of the people replying to this are those that already don't listen to their music too loudly. i do believe it is a real problem that young people should be aware of. i know i would never let my kids listen to music that loudly.

yes. if they choose to lose their hearing fine, but some kids are allowed to start this habit at too young an age, when parents could have made the difference.

Uh.... 70db is nothing man. A lot of car stereos will do louder than that from the freakin factory.

Being hearing impaired myself I just look at those people who do this and shake my head. When I pull up to a light I turn my stereo down because I don't feel like bothering other people out for a drive.

I have seen some people who have such megabass that their license plate is rattling more then a glasspack muffler.
