I'm looking to use this with the GA-965P-DS3. Newegg lists the following under the motherboard specs
"Notice: Only DDR2-800 memory supporting JEDEC approved 1.8V operation with timings of 5-5-5 or 6-6-6 is supported on Intel Desktop Boards based on Intel 965 Express Chipsets"

This memory is listed on Newegg as "Timing 4-4-4-12, Voltage 2.2V"

Will this RAM work and does this mean I'll need to bump the voltage up?

Thanks

Ah, I think I may have anawered my own question.

The memory compatibility list is here (pdf).
The Crucial 1GB part # that is listed as supported is "BL12864AA804" and this deal just appars to be a kit of 2 (#BL2KIT12864AA804 as shown on the rebate form).

For you guys who ordered, did you receive your orders alright? I looked up buy.com on resellerratings and they have a very low rating which you can find here http://www.resellerratings.com/store/Buy.[/quote]

Mine has not shipped. My card was charged but it still says "sent to warehouse". Buy.com better not be playing games.

My order is scheduled to be delivered tommorrow by UPS. I have ordered several times from buy.com without any problems.

Sorry to ask this question here, but do you guys know that this memory will work with Penryn?

Do you think by the time Penryn is out, this memory will go down, stay the same or go up?

Lastly, I know Bearlake (Penryn middle of road chipset) will accept DDR3. Do you think it is worth the wait for DD3? IMO DDR3 with higher latency will perform about the same at probably double the cost.

Thanks everyone!

This may just be speculation but I dont see how prices could drop much more. I dont see how they can go below $100 for 2gb kit. I would think they would start to go up.

Do you all think its worth getting one set of these and then returning the other brand ram I bought from newegg a few days ago for a little more if you include the after rebate price right now ?

I paid about $120 for this other set of ram. Same amount as this just not as good of ram as the crucial I don't think.

Go down to $50 without rebates? So I guess you wont be buying a 2gb kit for a few years then?

So at the current price the RAM is about 20-30% less than what it was a year ago.

AMD X2 CPUs are a puny fraction of what they cost a year ago.

Flash memory is a puny fraction of what it was a year ago.

Hence I'm holding out for the FAR 1GB sticks of 667 or $25 800 sticks

Mine shipped today (free shipping). I've also made several purchases from Buy.com without problems. Free shipping always arrives quickly.

I got mine today as well, only I haven't even ordered a board yet. Are there any boards other than the ds3 and biostar that can do 450+ fsb without breaking the bank?

Well, not the DS3, but the P5N-E I suppose. The only problem is newegg's price is $139 but is OOS. Most likely when it comes back in, the price will be higher. It also wont be in stock for a few weeks so.... It was $150ish on ewiz earlier today.

The DS3 is definitely not the same price. DS3 is $117 with free shipping. Or close to $100 for the older revisions. $50 less than the DFI.

With all four slots filled you still maintain dual channel capability (i.e. both memory controllers) but you will run at a 2T command rate and 1 extra clock cycle of latency that is not a huge performance loss or less than a 1% (worst case may be 2-3%) drop in FPS or productivity.
