He may not have used that actual word "hoax" but he sure as hell implied it was a hoax.I don't believe Trump ever called Covid-19 a hoax. But he did downplay the pandemic a lot.

Depends what he felt like saying day to day. 1/2 the time it was intentional via china. He may not have used that actual word "hoax" but he sure as hell implied it was a hoax.
Oh dear...I don't believe Trump ever called Covid-19 a hoax. But he did downplay the pandemic a lot.
how many people made that distinction in reality? i'd wager it's less than 1%, 0.1%, or even 0.01%.MtnMan,
Trump never called the actual disease a hoax.
He simply likened Democrats' reaction to his poor response to the pandemic a "new hoax."
There is a huge difference between the subjects. One is the actual disease and the other is his opponents' political response.
Dr. Birx estimated in her opinion that 100,000 deaths were unavoidable. So, that leaves the balance as a result of trump's complete incompetence.Fenixgoon, there is a difference.
Trump simply downplayed the dangers of viral infection for months. I have no idea how many died because of his administration's slow response. But I also know that hundreds of thousands refused to get vaccinated judging from the fake Vax card news stories.
Trump's failure to take robust action is tragic, just as Reagan and Bush II ignored the beginnings of the HIV epidemic. But Trump never labeled the actual virus a hoax. This does not mean I like the guy. Because I don't.
When I said the U.S. would back down on China's threat to Taiwan, some posters lost their minds with rage. Sending the House Speaker for a limited visit was apparently good enough for the war hawks among us. But Pelosi was not showing the flag in my opinion.
And China has yet to stop bellyaching.
Calling covid "the democrats' new hoax" is effectively identical to calling covid a hoax. Basically no one made your interpretation, and conservative opinions and associated outcomes speak volumes to that.
Fenixgoon,
Only in your mind.
Trump was discussing political rhetoric, not a disease.
And no class of English Majors would agree with your assessment.
Then why get so crazed about it?
Cause we're talking about how many people those words killed? Then why get so crazed about it?
Trump never called the actual virus a hoax. But if you believe he did, go spank him.
I will agree that Trump never actually called the coronavirus a "hoax", but he is very much complicit in it. His base calls it a hoax and treats it as such. He could put it to rest had he just come out and say it's not a hoax, but he never did. In fact, he did the opposite by down playing COVID-19 and that just reaffirmed to his base that already thought COVID-19 is a hoax. So, he is complicit by not correcting the popular belief by his base that COVID-19 is a hoax.Trump never called the actual virus a hoax. But if you believe he did, go spank him.

And you damn well know why he doesn't want to make that correction to his cult.
When I watch this video from Trump of the announcement for the vaccine I really don't see him reaffirming that COVID-19 is a Hoax.
Donald Trump announces coronavirus vaccine begins 'in less than 24 hours'
FYI - Whenever I encounter a anti COVID vaccine Trump supporter online I like to share this video with him. I point out that Trump said that these vaccines meet "The gold standard for safety" his words not mine. Really drives them nuts.

A person can say things without using a specific word, just like you have spoken quite clearly about your love and admiration for a certain orange shitberg.Trump never called the actual virus a hoax. But if you believe he did, go spank him.
But did he specifically condemn the "hoax" conspiracy theory? No. When you know your words can sway millions of your followers, staying silent is just as good as being complicit. And you know exactly why he doesn't outright condemn it. It's unpopular among his base, and he doesn't want to "anger" his support base. When I watch this video from Trump of the announcement for the vaccine I really don't see him reaffirming that COVID-19 is a Hoax.
