Point taken. Suppose I have always looked at the flu as both unavoidable and untreatable. When I was a kid, becoming sick was just a periodic fact of life. Not something to be acted on. That sentiment sticks with me.
Do we know if people have better outcomes if they seek treatment for viruses like the flu and COVID-19?
I have never imagined going to the hospital for a virus.
Of course people with viral meningitis or pneumonia or any number of viral-caused diseases do better if they can be cared for in hospital than if they can't. Depending on the hospital, anyway! I guess there have been some hospitals in history that _reduced_ your survival chances, back when they didn't really understand how diseases worked. It's about dealing with secondary-effects rather than curing the disease, I guess, though.
What changed the situation of course was large-scale vaccination. It might be that this bug becomes endemic and will circulate periodically until we have a vaccine for it.
