I'm alarmed, TBH. I can't see why the Chinese would go to all the trouble if the crisis didn't warrant draconian measures. If we're casual in our response (Trump is going to be as casual as he can manage it) we are evidently in for whatever the Chinese most fear. This could get hell of ugly and insane.I voted 10,000, but now I am thinking probably over 100,000. This thing appears to be as infectious as the flu by 10 times more deadly. I've been talking to some people from China and the kind of measures they are taking there are so draconian and Orwellian that they would never fly in America. It's basically martial law over there. Total monitoring of people's wherebouts, so that if they test positive, their steps over the previous 2 weeks can be retraced with detail and published for everyone to know. That's simply not going to fly in the US with the litigiousness and individualism of the society.
I’m more frustrated with the people selfishly breaking quarantine, and others still who are out spreading the virus because they have mild symptoms.
Is Trump also responsible for the inadequate testing across Asia, Europe and pretty much the entire world at this point, and the international travel that’s continued unobstructed over the last few weeks? Please. The global response has been inadequate, because testing assumes that people with mild symptoms will make the effort to get tested. Most of the people out spreading the virus are completely oblivious to that fact and they still have no easy access to testing. The Trump admin is 100% responsible for the lack of testing capacity that South Korea and Italy had weeks ago. The US infection rate is about to skyrocket once mass testing is finally online. The death toll is also higher than known at this point, the first death took about a week to ID.

And people are still getting on trains and planes and attending conferences and traveling internationally.South Korea tests 10,000/Day. The US has tested just over 3000/Total.
On network news tonight, said US has tested less than 1900 people to this point. US has totally dropped the ball on being ready for the coming viral avalanche.South Korea tests 10,000/Day. The US has tested just over 3000/Total.
Yeah, why go with a test that works? The Trump administration’s decision to forgo a World Health Organization test and create its own had fateful consequences, experts say.

In South Korea, more than 66,650 people were tested within a week of its first case of community transmission, and it quickly became able to test 10,000 people a day. The United Kingdom, which has only 115 positive cases, has so far tested 18,083 people for the virus.
The Atlantic could only verify that 1,895 people have been tested for the coronavirus in the United States, about 10 percent of whom have tested positive. And while the American capacity to test for the coronavirus has ramped up significantly over the past few days, local officials can still test only several thousand people a day, not the tens or hundreds of thousands indicated by the White House’s promises.
Agreed others may be better at testing, but assertive testing has done little for containment. Depending on how bad this gets, its going to test the notion of open borders.Other countries have done far better at testing than the US has.

I kind of agree about the complacency regarding international travel. It's a pet-peeve of mine that people fly around the world for trivial reasons far too much anyway. It does environmental and social damage and now this. (Not to mention all those insufferable show-offs posting photos of their exotic holidays on social-media!)
I notice Israel has introduced complete embargoes on travellers from several European countries, even quarantining their own citizens who have been to them - I guess those guys never mess around about anything when it comes to 'national security'.
best hope is that it decimates all the trumpers at the next trump rally, got your tickets?

And Trump is the hateful one. Yup.
And no.... I have no intention to visit a trump rally. Or to vote for him. But I'm even less inclined to side with a hateful fellow such as yourself.
