McCarthy wasn't president though (wasn't he finally bought down because he started to go after the military, and people weren't prepared to tolerate that?). I thought you were going to say you missed the 50's, when Republican Presidents had some moral backbone. Can't imagine Eisenhower declaring "I take no responsibility".

In fact, I have it on good authority that "I take no responsibility for all of the deaths tomorrow" was what Eisenhower said to inspire the allied forces under his command on the eve of D-Day. What a leader!

Kiss the ring, king Donald demands it

Deadline: “You Should Be Saying Congratulations Instead Of Asking A Really Snarky Question”: Donald Trump Berates Reporters Challenging His Coronavirus Claims.
Just wondering why they can't say anything nice about him or ask him questions that aren't accusatory? He's not been perfect but the good definitely has outweighed the bad in his handling of this.

What in your opinion has he done that is good and what has he done that is bad?

Maybe it's the daily lying and misinformation? Not to mention favoring governors that kiss his ass. People in states like Michigan are having their lives put in jeopardy because Gov has the nerve to speak out.

Are we just supposed to ignore all that?

It doesn't even have to be accusatory.

And as the leader, he should be asked hard questions, and he should be able to answer them. That's supposed to be what leaders do. We're in a pandemic. No one cares about softball questions. People want reassurance that a competent federal government exists, and that things will get better. Trump clearly displays why that's not the case.

Not been perfect? He's been a dumpster fire.

Conservatives ignore GOP lies all the time, then go on to defend it.

They wouldn't if liberals would just stop being so gosh darned mean

I'll ask you the same thing.

He has Ford and GM making ventilators. Ny has gotten a lot of much needed medical equipment and a navy hospital ship. He has in place very competent people like Dr Fauci and Birx and he lets them have much input into decisions. His staff and him have never been caught unaware by anything the media has asked. They always have answers and solutions they are working on. That is a direct reflection of his leadership. Sorry it just is. He has not rushed the deadline for going back to normal life. Fauci and Birx gave him their opinions and he followed their advice. He stopped travel from China early on when you guys called him a racist.

I think timing of the response could have been sooner but it's easy to say with hindsight. There were many here even that thought it was nothing to freak out over just yet.

How? Specifics please.
Lying to the public about a life threatening disease.

"We have 15 people and it's on its way to 0"

Trashing medical workers who are trying to save this country. Insinuating hospital workers are stealing PPE and ventilators with zero evidence.

Insinuation that Gov Cuomo doesn't need the ventilators requested. Again, putting lives at risk.

How much is too much for you?

GM was well on its way to making ventilators when the Trump admin f'ed up the deal and Donnie went on his stupid, childish rant against GM. Donnie followed up by invoking the Defense Production Act to make it look like he was the reason GM was moving when, in fact, it was his people's fu that threw a wrench in the works. Fortunately for us, GM is run by adults who kept moving forward with production planning and retooling despite Donnie's antics.

He was late on the seriousness true.
Never once trashed medical workers. In fact he had been very complimentary. So that's complete bs.
He said specifically he wasn't making charges against the specific hospital but asked the reporter yesterday to look into it themselves concerning why a hospital went from needing 10k to 300k masks and still needing more. So complete bs again.

And last but not least of your bs he said they sent 4k ventilators to NY and they weren't using them. Regardless they have 4k ventilators that were sent by the fed gov.

According to GM. They are trying to save face. I'm calling bs on that as well.

He threw a wrench into their trying to rape Americans financially by invoking the production act. He was tired of them delaying things by demanding more and more and called them out on their bs. Thanks but wrong again.

Have you ever heard the term "A day late, and a dollar short"?

Trump is like a home owner who ignores the contractor when he tells him that the roof on his house is failing and needs to be fix, but the home owner ignores that advice, paints the roof to hide the damage and believes he knows better and it will last much, much longer. A few months down the road, the roof fails and caves in from all the water damage, damaging and destroying many parts of the structure. So, the home owner has the roof fixed, even though the rest of the structure is now damaged, destroyed, and not structurally sound. The home owner's wife, who has no clue about anything, is patting him on the back, saying he is doing such a great job, and fixing the roof, which is good and out weighs the damage to the house in her eyes.. Trump is the home owner, and YOU are the wife.

Nearly everything he is doing that you are considering good, are things he should have done in the first week of February, with a few of his latest being done weeks ago, not just a few days ago. Because of his lies, lack of action/delayed action, he will always be a day late, and a dollar short, and if it wasn't for the Governor's that he is busy attacking, we would be in even worse shape than we currently are. Why does he attack those governor's? Because He is embarrassed because they make him look like the piece of crap that he is, because they are doing what he should have been doing all along, Putting the people and their safety first!

Prior to this virus, all of the crises Donnie has faced have been of his own making and could be ended whenever he chose to end them. From his poorly considered trade war to his treasonous conduct with Russia, to his concentration camps for migrants to his government shutdown to his attacks on NATO to his Ukrainian crimes to his treacherous abandonment of the Kurds to his plethera of emolument clause violations and self dealing, it was always Donnie driving the crises and the crises were therefore all about Donnie. With the COVID-19 crises, it wasn't all about Donnie so he made it about himself. The worse this crisis gets, the more Donnie f's it up, the more attention is focused on him. I have concluded that Trump willfully and knowingly made sure this crisis is worse than it needed to have been in the interest of self promotion.

Oh so he misjudged the severity and that's all you can keep bringing back up. Its caught a lot of countries off guard.

He's recovered nicely and is kicking ass. Simple as that.

This has no basis in fact. GM's price was at the low end for ventilators. You are lying or repeating lies. Which is it?

Actually, according to the pharmaceutical company that was partner of GM, and the head of the project. Why is it that people believe the lies that come out of Trump's mouth over anyone else.. EVEN when their is recorded proof?

Kiss the ring.

He actively discouraged safety for weeks. Called it hoax for 6 weeks. Spread lies, misinformation, and his loyal subjects are still believing it.

You have insanely low expectations and standards. Only explanation possible for thinking Donny is doing a good job here. Some of us expect competence but I guess you don’t.

Misjuding???? WTF!!!!! Ignoring all professionals from Doctor's to Scientists, advisers, allies, etc is not misjudging Calling it a hoax is not misjudging. Flat out lying is not misjudging. Pull your head out Trumps ass! And if you don't have it up his ass, pull it out of the ground and catch up to the real truth of what's happening. Honestly, your interpretation is like looking at the goofy mirrors at the carnival that distorts the image into something it's not.

Not sure where you are getting he is recovering nicely?? Oh wait.. you are talking about the polls.. tell you what, when you see daylight again.. go research Presidential polling numbers during a crisis. You will find that History has proven that even bad President's number improve, but they are short lived. They will tank when the shock of the crisis goes away.
