How many are getting an Apple watch?

No, I see fitbits regularly. The only iwatches I see are on the hipster/millennials who otherwise wouldn't be wearing a traditional watch.

I see a lot more people wearing the Galaxy Gear than the iWatch. I've recently traveled to Florida (Orlando & Miami) and live in Atlanta and hardly seen anyone wearing the iWatch.

Despite being a very vocal critic and skeptic months ago, I ended up getting an Apple Watch a few days ago. I bought one new on Swappa for $300. Black Sport 38mm.

So far I really like it. The two local grocery stores I frequent accept Apple Pay and it's awesome. I wish I could pay for everything with Apple Pay.

When I'm driving I can control all my music and podcasts while keeping my iPhone in my pocket. I'm also not missing any notifications while I'm out and about. And voice dictation works really well.

My next test is the gym. I'm curious if I can keep my iPhone in my locker and just use my Watch while still being fully connected.

I think the AW is still really overpriced. Especially the SS models. But I do think this product will gain steam next year and especially with the second model.

The more I use mine, the more I think the pricing might be fair. Admittedly, there's not much point to getting more than the Sport (unless you really want something that goes well with formal clothing), but it feels like the most complete smartwatch out there.

It's a generally nice (if a bit thick) design where wristband replacements aren't just a secondary thought. Apple has a surprisingly nice approach to health and fitness tracking. It launched with a healthy app selection to start with; while the run-off-the-phone approach is kinda flaky, it sounds like truly native apps will help a lot. Also, while the interface is sometimes clunky, it at least feels like Apple was thinking holistically, rather than dwelling on notifications like Google. How long did it take before Android Wear wasn't burying the app launcher as far away as possible? Eeeesh.

I saw 3 SS Apple Watches today, first black one too, and it was scratched to hell already, they were all very happy with their purchases, I wear mine every day, already feel naked without it.

Having owned several SS watches, I opted for the plain SS that I can buff out the scratches on.

Saw 4 in Las Vegas last weekend, wasn't looking for them though.

Well our anecdotes don't matter - even if a relatively small minority of Apple Watch buyers are traditional watch buyers, they still sold millions of them.

If anything, I think a 14% y/o/y drop in US watch sales is pretty good considering the Apple Watch revenue in the US was probably close to the same amount.

Unless you have a different explanation for the y/o/y drop (which sounds outside the statistical norms), this seems like a completely reasonable explanation.

This will be an interesting thread to bump over the next few years.

Christmas sales should be very good, We shall see.
