How Many Are Using XP64?

Just curious as to how many folks here have made the switch.
I have to buy a new OS, and have been considering just making the switch to 64, but I don't know if I will or not. I am wondering if my external cable modem would have any compatibility issues.

Does your cable modem connect by USB or Ethernet? If the former, you may likely have problems; if the latter, you're good to go (assuming everything else is supported).

I'm also using it; the only unsupported device I have is a Gretag Macbeth Eye-One Display 2 (whew, that's a mouthful!).

Its USB connected.
The only other thing that I know isn't supported is my HP all-in-one printer, but I'm going to replace it anyway.

How is the compatibility for games? Any issues with video card drivers from Nvidia or ATI? I just ordered the parts to build my Athalon 64 3500+ and was considering the possibility of running Windows 64. The only thing that scares me is the lack of compatibilty for games and apps.

Certain games flat out won't work, often for the most silly reasons. See http://www.planetamd64.com/index.php?showtopic=8978 for a discussion on StarForce protected games. If you're going to let older games stop you, you'll never upgrade to a 64-bit platform.

Personally I'm waiting for sound card drivers. The current HDA Mystique 7.1 drivers only support stereo (and the spdif output is disabled).

I made the switch. It blows. Phonetic Russian keyboard doesn't work, Epson, Leadtek and Logitech are missing drivers. Does Microsoft have a downgrade option?

I'd like to be able to play the newest FF games without issues. And I do a lot of photo restoration work, I wouldn't want to have issues with that type of software.
I just figured I'd spend the $$ on it now, instead of waiting til later; if it was worth it.

I'm running x64 and it's not that bad for me. I've got an MSI motherboard and all the drivers seem to work just fine. The only other drivers I needed were for my video card and SATA hard drives, which also seem to work fine. However, the biggest problem I have is that some programs that have embedded drivers, such as Alcohol 120% or Daemon Tools don't work because their drivers are not compatible. For this reason, I installed both versions and have a dual boot going, which was much easier than I though. I first installed x64, then installed x32. Windows automatically detected it, setup the dual boot, and everything actually works great. Blew my mind. I use x32 for utility type stuff and x64 for general and gaming purposes. That's my advice.
