One of the things I've never been able to understand about Americans is their desperate obsession with political labels.

Democrat.
Republican.
Left.
Right.
Communist.
Socialist.
Progressive.
Conservative.

What the f-ck does any of that mean? I think people use these labels because they don't have any opinions of their own, they just attach themselves to some imaginary group that supposedly has a specific policy and way of life that everyone in that group shares. Of course, when someone disagrees with them, they can always retort with "but you're a democract/progressive/leftie/communist."

I would disagree, Bush's campagin focused more on invisible "terrorists" amoung us and the end of social security. It didn't focus on "Crazy Liberals that wan't to destroy America". I'll give them credit from chaning the term liberal into a insult.

Bush is a idiot, and he did not win because I call him that.

They are describing words...there are far too many political issues to really understand where people stand without these words.
For example, i could go through 50 major political issues or...i can say i am a social progressive and fiscal conservative.
From this simple description, you can determine my affiliations easily.

Well, it's true that there's always been a rift, and that both parties seem to have been hijacked by extremists that are spewing forth rhetoric while doing their best to screw up the country in order to futher their own agendas.

But desite of that, I still feel that his policies have helped make it worse. That and the fact that he seems to surround himself with yes men and people I wouldn't trust no matter what they were saying/claiming, isn't helping matters.

Personally, I feel that the democrats did a piss poor job winning people over in the last election. The fact that they failed to beat someone like Bush is just, well, amazing. Though I'm not surprised. I mean heck...They picked Kerry of all people to run against Bush...

He still hasn't done anything one way or the other except with the war.

Yeah. I was kind of looking forward to an election that had Dick Gebhardt running for president. Wouldn't that have been fun!

If I knew Bush on a personal level, I'd probably like him. He just seems to be a likeable fellow. However, on a Political level he leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. Not all his own doing though, the people he has surrounded himself with are for a large part completely vile.

They all are. Although, these here now are a little boring. Except for Donald Rumsfeld, he's fun to watch.

This board tends to be more liberal and anti-Bush. That's what the polls consistently show.

I don't hate him, it's just that whenever he makes a political decision, I find myself saying....

WTF?!?!?!

The term "liberal" has been a naughty word for about 25 years now

Personally, I'm a Bush lover... he's up there with apple pie and baseball, he's a godlike presence whose positions are expert and correct. Of course I feel this way for exactly 3 seconds only when he's compared to the Democratic opponents.

I think you will be hard pressed to find a Bush lover, many republicans can agree that he is not the best candidate with questionable policies,

I don't know if i would say "lovers" but I think there are quite a few people who agree with Bush on almost all issues.

Try doing some reading on your own instead of listening to Limbaugh and Hannity.

George W. Bush-the ethics and tactics of Richard Nixon combined with the effectiveness of Calvin Coolidge, all in one package. What's not to like or admire?

Yes, I'm aware of all of that but what does it have to do with this thread?

Oh yeah. Nothing.

Why? What if we say 49% of the contry is stupid and 2% rich?

I suppose you could, but that would ignore the fact that there are:
1. Many affluent, politically active and powerful Democrats. Acquiring and retaining wealth at the expense of the working class is not exclusive to Republicans.
2. The Democratic Party has its own demographics of mindless sheep.
