Beyond just basic forwarding of emails and IMAP, google can manage all of your domain emails through Google Apps. All you have to do is switch some MX records around. If you're a student it's completely free, but I don't remember ever having to enter a .edu address.

I use Gmail to download all my ISP and personal domain email accounts. It all gets grouped into my Gmail inbox. I can back it up to Outlook occasionally when I want to. And it is all automatically synced with my Blackberry. My Blackberry and my computer's Gmail notifier go off at the exact same instant when I get an email from any of my accounts, and I can choose which account to reply with and compose from.

my domain email just gets forwarded to my gmail account, since I don't really use the domain email for anything.
I had a hotmail and yahoo account, but I'd imagine they've been closed to to inactivity by now. I haven't logged into them in years.

I use google apps for my domain. All the benefits of gmail, and i have it all forwarding to one email for easy processing.

If gmail went down permanently, I'd be screwed.

I have everything tied to my gmail account. All my email goes there. I also have my OSU webmail forward all email to my gmail account, and I use filters to separate what email is for what so my inbox and clean and searching is real easy.

technically 3 but for practical purposes, 1:

ISP email.
University email is forwarded to my ISP email.
Gmail is forwarded to my ISP email.

i forward all my domain emails to my gmail

all email addys in each domain are forwarded to a single email that is then forwarded to gmail

so about 16 emails addys are conglomerated into gmail
