How many frat rush events do you have to attend to get a bid?

Topic. Can you just go to one or do you have to go to more than one?

Because one of the rush events that a frat is doing tomorrow is a 5-hour tailgate party before a football game, but i haven't been to any of their previous rush events due to things from other clubs getting in the way.

I also won't be able to attend their info booth session due to something coming up on that day, and haven't been to their previous sessions.

Should i go to this tailgate party anyway or should i back out?

So you think i should refrain from going to the tailgate party if its the second to last event?

Also, would it be a bad impression if i went to their tailgate party with no intentions of joining the frat?

1. Don't call it a frat. People in that circle usually don't like that term. Call it a fraternity
2. You should attend as many as you can to show that you are serious. In mine, we had requirements for new rushees that they had to attend X amount.

Go to as many as you can, to get a bid you need to...

A: get to know the brothers
B: make a good impression
C: be yourself and have fun
D: be sincerely interested!!!

Sounds to me like you're making up excuses NOT to go, just go have fun.

no, you would not leave a bad impression. People do that all the time just to see if they'd fit in. They like people coming out and showing interest. Don't feel that if you don't want to pursue it after.

Enough to get their attention and give them the impression that you A) want to join and B) should be permitted to join.

We had rushees come through that got bids after a single event. We had rushees that went to every event and didn't get one.

Just go and talk to the guys there. You're under no commitment to join - I got a bid and didn't join because I didn't want to pay the massive membership fees (and I didn't like a lot of the pledges - mostly bros).

so i guess just go to the tailgate party, hang out with the bros, and don't act like a tool?

My college campus doesn't allow one to have beer on the campus, at least in the residence halls. Probably won't bring any anyway, as i don't like beer. The stuff tastes horrible.

Don't act like a tool? It IS a frat?

As far as the bad impression.. it's a tough call. I got a bid or two from frats freshman year, but turning it down twice (both semesters) made me fairly unwelcome around those specific frat guys.

i thought this for a while...theres good beer, you just need to try a few and see if you like something. theres a tremendous variety of beers to try as far as taste is concerned.

or drink liquor. it doesnt have to taste good if you shoot it or put it in some soda

Not to sound like a jerk but it's college you should live a little! They'll have free beer for you if it's a rush party, just have a few to be social it won't kill you!

Another question thats sort of off topic to this, but is it really all that important if someone deletes you from their facebook friends list? Like, if a classmate you have in college adds you and then 2 days later deletes you

How did you escape your parents basement? You're not going to get into a frat. You have insecurity issues and you don't like beer. You sound like tons of fun.

Step 1: Become self reliant enough you don't have to ask questions about self esteem and confidence on an internet message board whereupon no members have appropriate credentials.

through life experience

everyone has insecurity, just different TYPES of insecurity depending on their age level and where they are in life

people who say they have no insecurity are people who are content staying in their basement playing computer games right after their mundane days at work and not out in the real world stretching their comfort zones.

That right there describes me, i'm a guy that goes home and plays video games after going to class. Guess i should get out more often?

My level of insecurity is to where if when i say hi to someone that they say "hey lw07" in a tired tone i'll worry if they're blowing me off, and I've even gone so far as to delete quite a lot of people off my facebook if i even thought they might delete me in the future or might turn against me somehow.
